Today I treated my mum, who has been struggling with pain on the right side of her lower back.
After some gentle soft tissue work and lumbar mobilisation, we moved on to what I believe is the most important part of treatment - exercise.
Massage can help reduce pain and improve movement, but if the underlying weakness isn’t addressed, the problem often returns.
In her case, the focus is on:
✅ Improving glute activation to reduce the load through her lower back.
✅ Building strength and endurance in the muscles that support her lumbar spine.
✅ Restoring confidence and quality of movement.
Treatment doesn’t stop when you leave the clinic. The right exercises, performed consistently, are what create long-term change.
