On Wednesday 17th June our head of departments swapped suits and formal wear to take part in a charity wash.

The event, open to the public helped to raise nearly £200 for Alzheimers Society. Additionally the team helped to recognise staff members contribution with a free car wash

🎉 Welcome to Care Home Open Week! 🎉

We’re proud to kick off the week by hosting the final leg of the Great British Care Cycle Relay, bringing together our residents, team and local community for a fantastic start to this special week.

Congratulations to all the riders who left us at around 9am this morning and safely arrived at the finish in Wandsworth, London.

We have plenty more exciting events:

🚗 Wednesday – Our annual Charity Car Wash, starting from 8am. Come along, support a great cause and leave with a sparkling clean car!

🌍 Thursday – Our World Foods Open Evening, where guests can enjoy a tasting experience featuring flavours from around the globe, representing countries taking part in the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Care Home Open Week is all about opening our doors, connecting with our community and showcasing the wonderful life within our home.

As Carers Week comes to a close, we would like to take a moment to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution of carers everywhere.

Carers Week shines a light on the dedication, compassion and commitment demonstrated by unpaid carers and care professionals across the sector every day. At Signature Senior Lifestyle, we are proud to have an exceptional team who go above and beyond to provide outstanding care and support to our residents.

While we work hard to recognise and appreciate our team members throughout the year, Carers Week gives us an opportunity to go that little bit further. Throughout the week, our team enjoyed a range of treats and activities, including food and refreshments, small gifts of appreciation, a fun quiz, and our Team Awards, where colleagues were nominated by fellow team members, residents and their families in recognition of their outstanding contributions.

To round off the week, we were delighted to extend our gratitude beyond our home by opening our doors on Friday to carers from across the Reading area, welcoming them for refreshments and a well-deserved moment of recognition.

A huge thank you to every carer for the difference you make each and every day. Your kindness, dedication and compassion do not go unnoticed.

🎶 What a fantastic afternoon of live music! 🎶

Today, our residents enjoyed a wonderful performance featuring hits from across the decades. From classic favourites to timeless tunes, the music brought back cherished memories and had everyone singing along.

A big thank you to our talented performer and to everyone who joined us for such a lovely afternoon. It was a joy to see so many smiles and a few well-placed dance steps.

We look forward to many more special afternoons together! 🎵✨

🥕🍅 All Hands on Deck for Veg Prep! 🍅🥕

Our residents enjoy rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in preparing fresh vegetables for mealtimes. From peeling and chopping to sorting and chatting, everyone plays an important part in making the activity a success.

Purposeful activities like these are about so much more than preparing food. They help maintain independence, build confidence, encourage social interaction and provide a real sense of achievement and contribution. Being involved in meaningful daily tasks can support wellbeing, stimulate memories and create opportunities for connection and conversation.

We love seeing our residents working together, sharing skills and enjoying the satisfaction that comes from contributing to their community. ❤️

This is a wonderful example of how everyday activities can have a positive impact on health, happiness and quality of life.

Over the past 8 weeks our residents, in collaboration with children from Sonning Church of England Primary School , have been designing and creating an entry for this years Sonning Scarecrows event held on 24/25th May.

What an amazing team effort to show the benefits of inter-generational activities and to produce our farmyard themed entry to include Bert the Goat and Pablo the Pig.

On Monday some of our residents visited the trail to see some of the wonderful entries to this year’s event. Well done all.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined and supported our May Fayre!

It was a wonderful afternoon filled with great food, live music, laughter and fantastic company. We loved welcoming residents, families, friends and the local community together for such a special day.

Thank you to our stall holders, local businesses for their generous raffle donations, and everyone who helped make the event so memorable. A special mention to John for his guitar performance and Sabor a Cuba for keeping everyone entertained throughout the afternoon.

We look forward to seeing you again at our upcoming Dog Show on the 13th of June.
