It was a real honour to host and support the very brilliant Tad Hargrave from Tad Hargrave down here in our little shire . Thank you Giusi: Women's Health Acupuncturist & Herbalist 🌈 for all of your support šŸ«¶šŸ»

As part of his UK tour, we welcomed Tad to Moor Imagination CollectivMoor Imagination Collective Marketing for Hippies 101 workshop and what a turnout!

Clearly, loads of us wanted a piece of Tad and his marketing wisdom and it’s fair to say, he did not disappoint.

As always, there was so much to take away from the day. Tad has such a gift weaving marketing, storytelling, entertainment and ethics (do those words even go together?). I laughed my way through a marketing workshop and the day flew by with inspiration and possibilities. I’d highly recommend this workshop whilst Tad is still in the U.K., he has a few dates to go so big smoke dwellers … there is still time!

And because we were hosting here in our little corner of Devon, we thought we’d give our guests a taste of something else rather special about the area…

Our very own Dartmoor Estate Tea ! šŸƒ

IDartmoor Estate Tearing so many people say they had no idea there was a tea plantation just outside Buckfastleigh and even better hearing the comments about the incredible tones and flavours coming through in our very own Devon-grown tea.

So, a huge thank you to Tad for coming down and sharing your wisdom, humour and energy with us.

Three years on… and we’re doing it again!

We’re really excited to be supporting Tad Hargrave from Tad Hargrave , who is currently touring the UK and is coming down to Moor Imagination Collective for his Marketing for Hippies 101 workshop.

The last time we had Tad down this way was back in 2023 in Totnes, so this is a pretty rare opportunity to catch him in person.

Because here’s the thing, when we train as therapists, coaches and practitioners, we spend a LOT of time learning how to work with people: the techniques, our craft and how to support our clients.

But we don’t necessarily learn how to run a business, communicate what we do, or actually get the right people through the door.

And if we don’t learn that bit, it can be pretty hard to share what we have to offer.

I’ve been part of Tad’s online membership for the past year and it has genuinely changed the way I think about marketing, particularly how to do it ethically, authentically and without feeling like you have to become someone you’re not.

So if marketing is something you’ve been avoiding, struggling with, or simply never really got taught…

šŸ‘‰ This could be a real eye-opener.

Highly recommend it if you’re a practitioner in the area and want to get a bit more confident about sharing your work with the world. Spaces are almost sold out, link to book in comments.

What if movement was less about exercise… and more about exploration?

I’ve just finished running a two day Movement Playground workshop Cybele Gym exploring how we sense, move, balance, adapt, get down, get up, negotiate obstacles and, importantly… play.

We walked, squatted, hinged, pushed, pulled, carried, balanced, crawled, climbed, moved with our eyes closed and found all sorts of different ways over, through and around objects.

The idea is simple: there isn’t always one right way to move.

And I’d love to see more of this kind of movement become normal for adults as we get older.

Not because we need to become parkour athletes but because being able to step over something, climb onto something, change direction, get down to the floor, get back up and adapt to what’s around us are all useful life skills.

Maybe this is adult parkour in disguise. šŸ˜‰

These two days have been a pilot for something I’m developing into a six-week movement course and there may just be one happening in one of Devon’s cities very soon…

šŸ‘€ Eyes peeled. I’ll keep you posted.

And finally, a big thank you to everyone who joined me, bringing an openness to exploring different ways of moving their bodies and enthusiastically embraced the cake breaks! šŸ°

I’ve been working on the macaco for about 20 years.

It started when I was a teenager and diving. I loved it, but one day I over-rotated a back dive and ended up with my face against the pool wall. I wasn’t badly injured, but something changed. Going backwards suddenly felt unsafe and I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t do something I’d previously done without thinking.

Years later I started Capoeira and met the macaco. I loved Capoeira, but again I could never quite commit to going backwards. I’d do all the preparation, get close and then my brain would put the brakes on.

Fast forward 15 years and I’m loving soft acrobatics training with . Yes at 40!
Being upside down, moving through space and challenging my vestibular system has completely reignited my curiosity about movement.

And there it was again… the macaco.

For a long time I avoided it. So when a 30-day challenge came up to practise one skill diligently, I knew what I was choosing.

This is from from early attempts in the depths of winter this year, mainly avoiding doing the full skill to now: day 7.

What’s surprised me is how little I’ve actually done. A little wrist and shoulder warm-up, then three to six attempts both sides. That’s it.

And yet something has shifted. More confidence, more trust, less of that moment where my brain says ā€œabsolutely notā€.

Neuroplasticity, neuromuscular re-patterning, habit training… whatever you want to call it, something is changing.

I think persistence isn’t necessarily about pushing harder. Sometimes it’s simply giving your nervous system enough safe, repeated experiences to learn that something it once perceived as dangerous might actually be okay.

20 years in the making. Seven days of practice.

I’m pretty excited to see where the next 23 days take me.

šŸ‚ AUTUMN CLASS SCHEDULE šŸ‚

Four very different classes, all based Rebecca & Giusi -TCM & Movement🌈 in .

All classes are semi-private, with a maximum of 5 people, meaning there’s plenty of space to work with where you are. Whether that’s building strength, exploring new ways of moving, or simply giving yourself time to slow down.

Here’s what’s on offer this autumn:

TUESDAYS
09.30 — Move Well
For the more mature mover, or anyone navigating a health challenge or simply wanting to feel more confident in their body.

The aim is simple: to help you move well and keep moving well.
We explore gentle strengthening, mobility, balance and different ways of moving, with exercises adapted to suit the people in the room.

10.45 — Movement & Mobility
An intermediate-level class for anyone with some movement experience, perhaps through yoga, Pilates or another physical practice or anyone who already has a good awareness of their body.

This is a more dynamic class, exploring strength, mobility and new movement patterns while challenging some of those postural habits we can all develop over time.

THURSDAYS
10.30 — Mindful Conditioning
For women

A varied, strength-focused class using a circuit format.
We work with strength and loading, calisthenics, mobility, cardio, core and balance alongside more playful movement challenges and games.

Across the weeks we explore everything from traditional compound movements such as squats, deadlifts and overhead presses, through to more dynamic movements that ask the whole body to work together.

18.15 — Relax & Restore
A gentle, deeply restorative class loosely inspired by Yin and restorative yoga.

Each six-week block has a different theme, offering something to explore both within the practice and perhaps to take into everyday life.

Every class finishes with a fully guided Yoga Nidra / NSDR (non-sleep deep rest), a chance to properly switch off and allow the nervous system to settle.

🌿 All classes are semi-private and limited to 5 people.

What happens when Tai Chi and tea becomes Tai Chi on Tour? šŸƒā˜•ļø

Today we travelled to the foothills of Dartmoor to discover something pretty special: a local tea plantation here in Dartmoor Estate Tea

We were welcomed onto the land by Kathryn & Jo, whose passion for what they’ve created is infectious. We explored the plantation, heard the story behind the land and of course, tasted the tea. 🌱

Five teas, each completely different; from a delicate tea flower and beautiful white tea, to a punchy green, fruity red and smoky pu’er.

Tea has always been part of our Giusi: Women's Health Acupuncturist & Herbalist 🌈 Tai Chi practice, from drinking tea with my teachers, and continued through my practice and classes around Devon.

Tea is part of the pause. A moment to gather, digest, connect and simply see how everyone is.

Kathryn made an observation that really stayed with us: in a world of coffee on the go and matcha through a straw, tea has traditionally been a reason to stop. Even the english breakfast or classic builders.

Perhaps that pause matters more than ever.

And after a glorious hot afternoon, the clouds rolled in, the wind picked up and the temperature dropped just enough.

Perfect conditions for Tai Chi.

So we found a spot overlooking the plantation and practised together.

Tea. Tai Chi. Dartmoor. Good company. A moment to pause.

A pretty perfect afternoon. 🌿

Thank you for sharing your land, knowledge and passion with us. We’ll definitely be back for more tea, more learning… and another Tai Chi on Tour adventure.

Who knows where we’ll end up next? šŸ«–āœØ

Ode to the Slugs 🐌

I’ve won over the slugs for the first time,
with all of this British sunshine.

With the hose ban now on,
maybe some gentle rain
to water my abundant greens,
and then let the sun shine again.

Sorry, slugs
this is not your year.

But do not fear,
I’m sure you will win
once again…

next year! 🌱🐌

@🌿 From the Garden to the Kitchen 🌿

I recently had the pleasure of supporting Giusi Giusi: Women's Health Acupuncturist & Herbalist 🌈 with her ā€˜From the Garden to the Kitchen’ workshop in the beautiful Blossom Tree Medicinal Garden at Dartington Trust

The dayDartington Trustcient wisdom of Chinese Medicine, reminding us that many of the herbs growing around us have been used as food and medicine for thousands of years. We toured the garden, tasted a variety of herbs, learnt how they support different constitutions through the lens of Chinese Medicine and discovered simple ways to weave them into our everyday cooking.

The Blossom Tree Medicine Garden is a wonderful community space, created through the vision and dedication of volunteers and supported by organisations including and TNL Community Fund. It’s nTNL Community Fund medicinal plants used in Chinese Medicine and continues to grow as a place of learning, biodiversity and connection.

We were blessed with glorious sunshine, an abundant garden and a wonderfully curious group. Days like this remind me that healing doesn’t always come from a bottle; it can begin with the plants growing quietly around us. 🌱

If you’re curious to learn more, Giusi will be running an online version of this workshop soon, so do give Giusi: Women's Health Acupuncturist & Herbalist 🌈 a follow.

🌿 We used DaoDi herbs as part of the tasting sessions due of their commitment to traceable, traditionally sourced herbs, grown without sulphur treatment.

Our bodies adapt to the lives we live.

Hours spent over laptops. Looking down at phones. Driving. Sitting. Reaching forwards. Day after day, we become familiar with this shape.

The front of the body gradually shortens. Our gaze drops. Our breathing can become a little shallower. It’s not a fault or a failure, it’s simply how living bodies respond to repetition.

Perhaps that’s one reason so many of us feel different when we spend time in nature.

Without really thinking about it, we lift our gaze to the canopy. We lengthen a little. We breathe a little more deeply. Our attention shifts from the screen in front of us to the world around us.

In Chinese medicine, the front of the body is considered yin: the softer, more receptive aspect of ourselves. It’s the part of us that is less armoured and more open to relationship.

I often wonder whether being in nature makes it easier to inhabit that quality. Not because we force ourselves into a posture, but because the environment invites us into one.

We soften.
We become a little more available.
A little more connected to the landscape, to our senses and perhaps to ourselves.

Maybe that’s why a walk through the woods can feel so restorative.
Not because the trees magically heal us, but because they gently remind the body of patterns it has known for far longer than desks, cars and smartphones.

Sometimes all that’s needed is the space to look up.

For the next 90 days, I’m stepping back from social media.

Not to disappear, but to create a little more space.
Space for slower moments, deeper listening and connection beyond the screen.

Before COVID (2020… was it 😬?), we were in Nepal running ā€˜disconnect to reconnect’ retreats at the beautiful . That kind of presence feels especially meaningful right now and this pause is my own small version of that medicine.

It’s about tending to what’s close and embodied whilst giving some new ideas the time and attention they need to unfold.
