❤️ Know Your Numbers Week – do you know your blood pressure?

High blood pressure often has no symptoms, but it can increase your risk of serious health problems, including heart attacks and strokes. That’s why knowing your numbers is so important.

There are several ways you can check your blood pressure:

💊 Visit your local pharmacy for a blood pressure check
🩺 Book an appointment with one of our Healthcare Assistants at the practice
🏠 If you need to monitor your blood pressure over several days, you may be able to borrow a blood pressure monitor from the surgery for home use. A £20 deposit is required.

Our Blood Pressure Monitoring Scheme allows patients who need ongoing monitoring to record their readings morning and evening for 4–7 days, helping us build a clearer picture of their blood pressure.

❤️ Know your numbers. Know your risk. Take control of your health.

🧪 Respiratory symptoms? You may be able to test from home.

If you have symptoms such as a cough, sore throat, runny nose or shortness of breath, you may be able to request a free self-swabbing kit through the Take-A-Test UK programme.

🏠 The kit is sent directly to your home, so you do not need an appointment with the practice.

If you would like to request a kit, please do so as soon as possible — ideally within 4 days of your symptoms starting.

When ordering, you will need:
🔹 Your NHS number
🔹 The Hall Practice ODS code: K82008 – please use this as the voucher code

➡️ Order your kit at:

💊 Running low on medication?

Please remember to order your repeat prescriptions in plenty of time before your medication runs out.

We ask patients to allow at least 5 working days for repeat prescription requests to be processed. Weekends and bank holidays do not count as working days, so please plan ahead where possible.

📱 You can order repeat prescriptions quickly and easily through the NHS App.

Planning ahead helps make sure you have the medication you need, when you need it.

Thank you for your cooperation 💜

💜 International Overdose Awareness Day | 31 August

Today, we recognise International Overdose Awareness Day – a global campaign to remember those whose lives have been lost to overdose, reduce stigma, and remind people that support is available.

Substance use can affect anyone, regardless of their age, background or circumstances. If you or someone you care about is struggling with alcohol or drug use, reaching out for help is a positive first step.

Signs someone may benefit from support include:
• Finding it difficult to cut down or stop using alcohol or drugs
• Using substances to cope with stress, anxiety or low mood
• Alcohol or drug use affecting work, relationships or daily life
• Physical or mental health concerns linked to substance use

💙 You don't have to face it alone. Support and treatment are available, and recovery is possible.

If you'd like to speak to someone at the practice, our team can provide confidential advice and signpost you to the right support services.

🚨 If someone has taken an overdose, is unconscious, having difficulty breathing, or is not responding, call 999 immediately. An overdose is a medical emergency.

👋 Please join us in welcoming our medical students to The Hall Practice!

We are pleased to welcome Jai Matharu and Nihar Vajrala, two Year 6 (final-year) medical students from the University of Cambridge, who will be joining us from 24 August to 2 October as part of their training and clinical experience.

The Hall Practice is proud to be a training practice, supporting the next generation of doctors as they develop their skills and experience in general practice.

If you are booked for an appointment with a medical student, you will always be informed beforehand. Our medical students are supervised at all times, and each consultation is discussed in detail with one of our GPs afterwards.

💜 We hope our patients will join us in giving Jai and Nihar a very warm welcome to The Hall Practice!

🦟 Been bitten by an insect? Your local pharmacy can help.

If you've been stung or bitten by an insect, your local pharmacy can offer expert advice and recommend treatments to help relieve symptoms such as:
✅ Itching
✅ Redness
✅ Swelling
✅ Pain or irritation

There's no need to wait for a GP appointment for most insect bites and stings – your pharmacist is a highly trained healthcare professional who can advise on the best treatment.

🚨 Seek urgent medical help by calling 999 if someone has difficulty breathing, develops swelling of the face, lips or throat, or shows signs of a severe allergic reaction.

For most bites and stings, your local pharmacy is the best place to start. 💙
