Dear all

It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of our long-time member, Peter Walker who passed away suddenly on Saturday 4 April. We have now been granted official permission to share this information with you, although I realise many of our membership had already heard about the tragic news.

Peter has been a dedicated part of The Kennel Club of Jersey for many years, enjoying great success showing many different breeds of dogs which resulted him making up 13 Jersey Champions plus further UK and European Champions. He loved and admired so many breeds but undoubtedly loved breeding and campaigning his home bred Lhasa Apsos and the Lhasas he brought in to add to his lines. He loved showing and recently breeding his Chinese Cresteds and was enjoying great success, and he also had a great love of showing his whippets as he always loved and adored the breed. Peter was best known for his positive encouraging attitude towards new members sharing his passion for showing, helping where he could with his vast knowledge gained over the years. He loved travelling to campaign his dogs and made many friendships in Jersey, Guernsey and the UK through his love of dogs. He was generous with his time to anyone seeking help or advice and was a close friend to many in the dog world. He was very social and loved the after show dinners and meeting up with friends to share stories and news of his latest escapades. His laugh and gregarious nature personified him.

Peter has served on Committee twice, more recently as Show Secretary in order to give something back to our Club which we were very grateful for. His presence will undoubtedly be greatly missed at our shows by many Members and friends.

We will share information and details regarding the funeral service as soon as they become available and I ask that you please keep Peter’s family and friends in your thoughts during this difficult time.

Rest in peace Peter
