There’s just six weeks to go until the Blythe House Hospice Chatsworth 10k on Sunday 13th September, sponsored by BRM Solicitors. 💙

Every mile helps fund compassionate hospice care for patients and families across North Derbyshire.

Only a small percentage of our funding comes from the NHS. The rest is raised thanks to events like this, and the incredible people who take part.

By joining us at Chatsworth House, you’re helping ensure local families receive the support they need, when they need it most.

There’s still time to secure your place: https://blythehousehospice.org.uk/chatsworth-10k/

Are you caring for someone who needs extra support due to their health? 💙

Looking after someone else can be incredibly rewarding, but it's important to take care of yourself too. Our monthly Carers Drop-in offers a warm, welcoming space where you can enjoy a cuppa, have a chat and connect with others who understand the challenges of caring.

Hosted in partnership with Alzheimer's Society, Derbyshire Carers Association and High Peak CVS, the drop-in provides an opportunity to access friendly support, share experiences and find out about services that may help you in your caring role. You do not need to have accessed hospice services before to come along.

It takes place at Blythe House Hospice on Eccles Fold, Chapel-en-le-Frith, SK23 9TJ, from 1.30 to 3.30pm on the second Monday of every month - the next one is set to take place on Monday 10th August.

There's no need to book – simply drop in whenever you can. Need help arranging care so you can attend? Give us a call: 01298 875080 and we'll be happy to help.

A huge thank you to Stephen, Bonnie and the Peak Plodders! ⛰️

We’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to Stephen, Bonnie and the Peak Plodders for taking on the gruelling Welsh 3000s challenge and raising an incredible £1,560 for Blythe House Hospice.

The Welsh 3000s is no small feat, involving climbing all 15 of Wales' 3,000-foot peaks within 24 hours.

We’re incredibly grateful that they chose to take on this challenge in support of hospice care. It takes around £2.6 million each year to provide our services. For 7 in every 10 people we care for, that support is made possible by our community, through amazing adventures like this, our shops, events, and gifts in Wills.💙

We are saddened to hear of the death of James Dunlop MBE, who served as a Trustee at Blythe House Hospice for more than eight years.

James was a valued member of our Board of Trustees from 2015 to 2023, helping to guide the hospice through a period of significant growth and change. During his time with us, he supported a number of major developments, including the launch of our Hospice at Home and Roaming Car services, the Community Volunteer Programme, and our merger with Helen's Trust.

Throughout his career, James held a number of senior leadership and non-executive roles across the public, health and voluntary sectors. He was a Commissioner of the Equal Opportunities Commission, served as a Non-Executive Director within the NHS, and was involved with organisations including The Prince's Trust, Stockport CVS, the University of Manchester and Stockport Canal Boat for Disabled People. In recognition of his service to the community, James was awarded an MBE in 2015.

James' commitment and experience made a huge contribution to Blythe House Hospice and the people we support.

Everyone at Blythe House Hospice extends their heartfelt sympathies to James' family and loved ones.

Our staff and incredible volunteers came together recently to celebrate everything the hospice has achieved during the past year – and what a wonderful evening it was! 💙

Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Whether they're supporting patients and families, helping in our shops, caring for our gardens, or lending a hand behind the scenes, every role makes a real difference.

If you're looking for a rewarding way to give back, make new friends and become part of a supportive, welcoming team, we'd love to hear from you.
