Injuries are frustrating.

You miss training.
You lose routine.
You start questioning whether you’ll get back to where you were.

Trust me, I’ve been there.

But every injury I’ve had has taught me something.

Better recovery.
Better strength work.
Better patience.
Better appreciation for being able to just get out the door and run.

Nobody chooses injury.

But if you’re in that phase right now, focus on what you can do rather than what you can’t.

The comeback starts long before the first run back.

Running looks simple

Until you realise there’s a bit more to it than just putting one foot in front of the other.

Technically, most of us can run.

But how you run can have a huge impact on your efficiency, performance, enjoyment and even your injury risk.

Small things matter.

How your foot lands.
What your ankle is doing.
How your hips move.
Your posture.
Your cadence.
Even your breathing and head position.

Individually they might seem minor, but together they can make a massive difference to how comfortable and efficient running feels.

It was great to have in for a gait analysis recently, and even better to hear how the changes we’ve worked on are already making a difference. Easier runs are feeling easier, running feels more natural, and she’s starting to feel more confident in herself as a runner (and yes Siân you are a runner!)

That’s what it’s all about.

Whether you’re struggling with recurring injuries, training for your first 5K, chasing a marathon PB, or simply want running to feel easier, sometimes an outside eye can spot the little things that make a big difference.

If you’d like to improve your running technique, reduce injury risk and become a more efficient runner, get in touch and let’s see what we can do.

Five years.

It’s almost to the day that I took the leap and started working fully for myself.

The clinic had been running for a while before that, but for a long time it was evenings, weekends and one day a week around a full time job elsewhere. Five years ago, that changed, and I put everything into LRS Physiotherapy.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous.

I was excited, but there was definitely a lot of uncertainty too. What I did know was that I always wanted to work for myself. I wanted the freedom to do things the way I felt physiotherapy should be done. To spend the time with people they deserve and focus on helping them move better, feel better, perform better, and get back to doing the things they love.

Five years later, I can honestly say I still love what I do.

I genuinely enjoy coming down to the clinic every morning. It’s a privilege to do a job that I care so much about, and an even bigger privilege that so many of you choose me to help you along the way.

Whether you’ve been with me since day one, followed along on social media, recommended me to a friend, shared a post, or simply made an offhand comment like, “You should go and see Liam about that sore knee”, thank you.

Those recommendations, referrals, shares and conversations mean more than you’ll ever know.

To the clients who have trusted me with their recovery, performance, frustrations and goals, thank you. It is an honour to play a part in helping you get back to what you love doing.

One of the things I love most about physiotherapy is that it’s always evolving. New research, new evidence and new ways of helping people mean there’s always more to learn. I love that challenge and work hard to keep developing my knowledge and skills so I can continue providing the best care possible.

As for what’s next, who knows?

Maybe, just maybe, it’s time to start thinking about expanding things a little.

For now, I’m incredibly grateful. Grateful for every client, every recommendation, every message, every follow and every bit of support over the last five years.

Thank you for helping make this little clinic what it is today.

Big love,
Your favourite physio

A lot of things do take a little while to warm up.

Sometimes it genuinely is just a case of your body loosening up, getting some blood flow through the area and settling once you get moving.

But…

If it’s every single run
If it’s taking longer and longer to “warm up”
Or if that ni**le is slowly becoming more noticeable

It’s probably worth paying attention to 👀

Quite often these little warning signs are your body’s way of telling you something isn’t moving, loading or recovering quite as well as it should be.

That might be:
• weakness
• stiffness
• a loading issue
• poor recovery
• or a muscular imbalance that’s gradually building towards injury

The good news?

Catching these things early is usually much easier than trying to rehab a full blown injury later on

Don’t ignore the whispers until they become screams.

And no your “dodgy calf that always takes 3k to loosen up” probably isn’t something you should just accept forever

A good assessment and the right rehab can often make a huge difference before things properly flare up.

Being injured changes your relationship with training

When you’re fit, motivation is often about performance.

Paces
PBs
Mileage
Big sessions
Watch your starva graph increase week after week

But when you’re injured, motivation becomes something different.

Sometimes the win is just showing up.
Doing the rehab.
Holding yourself back instead of pushing harder.
Trusting the process when progress feels painfully slow.

And honestly, that’s often the harder skill.

Anyone can train when things are flying.
The real challenge is staying consistent when things aren’t perfect.

Rehab is still training.
Recovery is still progress.
And patience is still part of performance

I’ve walked that walked as you all know

So if you need some help with those injuries I’m here for that, online & in person 👋
