Instead of asking yourself...

“Why am I so blocked?”
“Why can’t I focus?”
“What if this isn’t good enough?”

Ask:

✨ “How do I want to feel right now?”

Creative?
Focused?
Excited?
Calm?
Playful?

The words you use matter.

Your brain is always listening, and it often follows the instructions you give it.

So before you create, choose the feeling you want to experience.

With your friends, you sound like yourself.

Natural, opinionated, funny, real. But the second you sit down to write a caption, record a video, create something to share, your voice changes.

It becomes careful or safer or flatter.

You sound like a version of yourself, not actually yourself.

You’re filtering everything through what other people might think. You edit out the humour in case it doesn’t land. You soften your opinion in case someone disagrees. You sand down the edges that make you YOU because those edges feel risky.

Your real voice is too much. Too opinionated. Too weird. Too you. So you perform a safer version, designed not to get rejected.

But when your creative voice doesn’t match your real voice, your work loses power.

People can feel the performance.

They can sense you’re not fully there.

You can’t build real connection from behind a filter.

So next time you sit down to create, write or record like you’re talking to one specific person you trust.

Not “the algorithm” or “potential clients” or “everyone.”

One person. Use the exact words you’d use with them. The jokes you’d actually make. The opinions you’d actually share. Then post it without editing through the filter of strangers.

Your real voice is already good. You just need to stop translating it into something safer❤️

Neuroscience shows that music can affect your mood, nervous system, and even your ability to access creative flow.

That’s why it’s worth paying attention to the soundtrack you’re giving your mind each day.

I love gardening and my garden is my happy place.

It’s where I slow down, connect to nature, and switch off from the noise of everyday life. Over the years I’ve planted most things in it myself, and although it’s always a work in progress, that’s part of what I love about it. It’s one of my creative outlets.

I was really lucky to go to the opening of Chelsea Flower Show this week

I discovered the beautiful Cornus Florida ‘Cherokee Sunset’ 🌸💕

One of my favourite gardens was the Tokonoma Garden as I’m obsessed with acers… and look at that moss! 💚

I also loved the On the edge garden with an incredible Gaia carving and important message about looking after our countryside and green spaces. Nature is so important for our mental health and wellbeing, and I think spaces like these remind us how much we need that connection. ❤️

Vickie came to me feeling stuck, low, anxious, and completely burnt out from running her business.
