Intergenerational Penalty Shootout:
Now this is what community is all about! Earlier this week, our residents enjoyed a wonderful intergenerational afternoon with the local nursery children, taking part in a fun penalty shootout before sharing a football-themed afternoon tea together. There was plenty of laughter, smiles, and friendly competition as young and old came together, creating special memories and celebrating the joy of community and connection. With our referee keeping order, two of the nursery children were shown a yellow and a red card for their 'football misdemeanours', which had residents and staff laughing and added fun to the afternoon. The halftime cupcakes were very much enjoyed by all!

We had a very special visitor this week.

Mr Mafia, a retired racehorse with an impressive 18 race wins to his name, paid us a visit here at Newlands! Residents had a wonderful time getting up close, giving him a stroke, and hearing all about his remarkable racing career.

Mr Mafia is now enjoying a well-earned retirement at Luckley Stables in Condicote, in the care of racehorse trainer Martin Keighley and Belinda Keighley — and we're absolutely delighted to say this won't be his last visit! Belinda will be bringing him along on a regular monthly basis now that the summer months are here.

We can't wait to see him again — something tells us he'll be a firm favourite!

Care Home Open Week is here and Newlands of Stow has a wonderful week of activities! From themed afternoon teas and arts & crafts to an ex-racehorse visit, an intergenerational penalty shootout with nursery children, and a PAT dog drop-in — there's warmth, fun, and community at every turn.
