I’m now on maternity leave 🫧⁣

My last day was due to be the 31st July, but our little love bug made her appearance at 3:30AM on the 30th, 3 weeks early taking us by complete surprise! 👼🏼⁣
⁣
Naturally, 2 hours after my waters broke and being sent home from the birth unit to get active labour started, we went to the clinic to grab my products as I still had orders to send 😂 less than 24 hours later she was here 🤍⁣
⁣
In a year filled with grief, being poorly & losing function in half of my face all whilst being pregnant and trying to run my business, she became my reason to keep going and gave me a strength I never knew I could have, before she was even in my arms she was carrying me 🦢⁣
⁣
I will miss seeing my clients so much, I really couldn’t thank you all enough for your kindness, patience and consideration for me this year. I say this all the time but I really am so truly lucky to have met so many wonderful people who not only support my business, but support me. You all mean so much more to me than just a client who walks through the door! ⁣

I am now off until 2027, I do not have an exact return date as of yet, but clients you will be the first to know & don’t forget, we have the amazing Dr Leah starting on the 20th August for your aesthetics needs.⁣

My journey with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome 🤍

Just to say, I’m not sharing this for sympathy at all, I feel sooooo strong and I’m 11 weeks into the journey now! But I want to spread awareness on this rare condition, especially for anyone who frantically searches every possible engine you can to find some answers like I did! You may have heard of RHS in passing as it was the reason Justin Bieber cancelled his world tour in 2022 when he was diagnosed with it!

Ramsay Hunt Syndrome happens when the same virus that causes chickenpox reactivates later in life. After chickenpox, the virus stays dormant in the nervous system and can “wake up” years later, often during periods of high stress, immune suppression, burnout, illness, or nervous system overload and frustratingly I had 4 months of being unwell with my pregnancy + a period of stress during this time.

When it reactivated, it attacked the facial nerve near my ear, causing inflammation and irritation to the nerve itself. Think of the nerve like an electrical wire, when it becomes swollen or damaged, the signals between the brain and facial muscles can’t travel properly. This is why facial weakness or paralysis can happen. That along with the pain of shingles is just next level 😅

So just a reminder that chronic stress doesn’t just affect mood or energy… it impacts the immune system and nervous system too, so please prioritise your wellbeing, even if this means disappointing others 🤍

My skin! November 25 - now!⁣

I put these 2 images together this morning and thought I’d share. Why? Well because actually between this time, my stress has been high, I’ve been on medication and my diet hasn’t been great, but my skin has improved! 🤣 so quite the contradictory to everything we’re (or I) tell to heal skin! But as always, nothing is ever simply black and white.⁣
⁣
Following my crazy acne outbreak from my B12 injections last year, the closed comedones they had given me turned into nodular and cystic acne up my cheeks, which resulted in quite intense PIE marks ☹️ ⁣
⁣
At the moment, I’m contraindicated to the typical treatments I’d do to treat scarring and PIE, so my skincare routine has needed to do a lot of heavy lifting. I’ve invested in a solid skincare routine with active ingredients as well as 3 BYONIK treatments! ⁣
⁣
I still have a little way to go, but I’m hoping by the time I can do these treatments, my skin would have improved so much already. So it goes to show that whilst lifestyle factors are important, so is having a skincare routine tailored to you and doing it twice a day… yes clients I’m talking to you who’s products last you months on end, you aren’t using it enough 😉 ⁣
