Have you tried the butterfly hug?

It might look a little unusual, but it’s a simple grounding technique that many people find calming when they’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed.

Cross your arms over your chest so each hand rests on the opposite shoulder (or upper arm), then gently tap from one side to the other while taking slow, comfortable breaths.

It’s a way of bringing your attention back to the present moment and helping your body feel a little more settled.

It won’t make life’s challenges disappear, but it can be a helpful tool to have in your wellbeing toolkit.

Have you tried it before?

How do you know if you’re taking a good supplement?

Not all supplements are created equal.

Two products can look almost identical on the shelf, yet the quality, dose and ingredients inside can be very different.

So how do you know if you’re buying a good one?

Here are a few things to look for:

• The form – Some forms of nutrients are generally better absorbed or better tolerated than others.

• The dose – More isn’t always better, but usually a dose that’s too low may not be effective either.

• Additives – Check the ingredient list for unnecessary fillers, artificial colours, sweeteners or other ingredients you’d rather avoid.

• Batch testing – Reputable companies often use independent testing to check the identity, purity and quality of their products.

• Do you actually need it? – This is the most important question. A supplement should support a genuine need, not simply fill the cupboard because it was trending on social media.

I have a podcast which dives into the details around supplements so do check that out on my YouTube channel. My podcast is out Tuesdays at 6pm. Link in bio.

Why gut-directed hypnotherapy for IBS?

IBS isn’t just about food. Research shows that gut-directed hypnotherapy can help reduce symptoms such as bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhoea and constipation by supporting the gut–brain connection.

Many people with IBS also develop anxiety around food, symptoms or knowing where the nearest toilet is. Hypnotherapy helps calm the nervous system and change the way the brain and gut communicate.

And for many people, it’s also a welcome break from constantly thinking about diets, food rules and what to eat next.

What is hypnosis 👀 and what isn’t it? So many people have preconceived ideas about hypnosis -usually from stage shows. Hypnosis is collaborative and you are fully in control. It is a tool in the therapist’s tool box but it is not magic! Have you had hypnotherapy? Did it help?

I love it so much that I offer a free taster to my nutritional therapy clients who book a package. Even better, I have a package combining nutritional therapy and hypnotherapy which at the moment is amazing value. 😊

Magnesium is involved in hundreds of processes in the body, including muscle function, energy production, sleep and supporting the nervous system.

My personal favourite is magnesium glycinate because it’s generally well absorbed and is often a good choice for supporting relaxation and sleep. Magnesium citrate can be particularly helpful if constipation is an issue because it draws water into the bowel, while magnesium oxide tends to be less well absorbed and is often more likely to act as a laxative than raise magnesium levels.

It’s not just about supplements either. Some people also enjoy magnesium creams, balms, sprays or relaxing Epsom salt baths as part of their self-care routine, and it can be a useful way to access magnesium (aside from the diet).

Do you have a favourite form of magnesium?
