Our social prescribers popped up at Party in the Park yesterday to have conversations with parents, carers and young people and share information on how to access wellbeing support and local services.

We refreshed our arts and crafts activities in the gazebo - this time getting children involved in colouring our huge sea-life themed tablecloth and decorating their own wooden fish!

It was a joy to see everyone's creativity and witness the fantastic community participation at another one of Cheltenham's summer staple event for families! By attending, we are able to promote early support and help create a welcoming and inclusive space for children and families from across Gloucestershire.

Thank you!

Our social prescribers enjoyed being part of the Springbank Family Fun Day last week!

Children were getting creative and crafted fabulous summer wreaths in our gazebo, which they took back home to proudly show their loved ones.

Our Ageing Well zone brought together over 15 organisations to share information to promote physical activity and share other tools and resources to help people age as well as possible in later life. We covered diet and exercise, respiratory health and diabetes.

It's always valuable to attend events like these to help the community stay connected and supported over the year as well as raising awareness of our service and strengthening relationships with local partners. It was an enormous success! Thank you!

TOMORROW - Join us for Ageing Well at the Springbank Family Fun Day!

We have organised health & wellbeing talks, including how to better manage long-term health conditions such as Asthma, COPD and Diabetes.

Also, have a go at walking football, cricket and netball in our taster sessions!

There is also the opportunity to meet and chat to our colleagues from various partner organisations at their information stalls, including Age UK Gloucestershire.

If you help someone else with prescriptions, booking appointments or managing their health and care, getting proxy access could make it easier and more convenient.

Arranging access with your GP surgery is much more secure than sharing your own NHS login or GP app or website accounts. You can set up different types of access, and limits on that access, depending on what you want or need help with.

It's Cervical Screening Awareness Week - which is a great opportunity to share that we organise two Saturday morning smear clinics each month!

If you're due, contact your Practice and book your appointment today. We are also sending out reminder texts with direct appointment booking links for ease.

Our advice is to book a smear 2 days after your period, 3 months after birth or miscarriage and 12 weeks after a vaginal ultrasound.

We also understand that for some, this can be a difficult procedure to tolerate. Our nurses welcome conversations to help you feel more at ease and discuss other solutions that could help - especially if you are going through the menopause.

SPOTLIGHT: MSK Clinics

The PCN helps to deliver additional appointments outside of usual surgery opening times. You may have heard this being referred to as 'Enhanced Access'.

We offer a Musculoskeletal (MSK) service during weekday evenings. Patients with aches, pains and a lack of mobility in their muscles, joints, or bones can ask to book an appointment to see our GP specialist, Dr Tom Jenkins. He delivers these clinics at the Wilson Health Centre, Overton Park Surgery and Underwood Surgery.

Dr Tom Jenkins is able to deal with any complex MSK issues, can see children under 18, and can perform soft tissue and joint injections.

Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. When you're going through a tough time, a simple meal or food parcel can make a big difference. Local organisations even offer additional support, such as provide toiletries, give advice on finances, housing or mental health, and lend an ear for a supportive chat over a cup of tea. 🫂☕️

Please take a look at the *new* Gloucestershire Food Map here:
https://www.feedinggloucestershire.org.uk/food-map/
This map is designed to make it easier for those in need to find the local food support that best fits their specific situation.

🍌Community Fridges - free surplus food open to everyone to help reduce food waste

🍇Lunch Clubs & Community Meals - opportunities to share a hot meal and connect with others

🍓Growing & Cooking Projects - community gardens and allotments focused on long-term skills and sustainability
