How many of these signs resonate with you? 👇

While these symptoms can have many different causes, they’re often a sign that your body is spending too much time in a heightened state of stress.

And here’s the thing…

Your body doesn’t know the difference between the stress of:

* A difficult day at work.
* Constant worrying.
* Financial pressure.
* Caring for everyone else.
* Overtraining.
* Running flat out every single day.

To your nervous system, it’s all stress. 😣

We’ve somehow normalised being permanently busy.

We wear exhaustion like a badge of honour.

We celebrate being the one who can “keep going.”

But your body keeps the score.

Since taking up running, one of the biggest lessons I’ve learnt is that progress doesn’t come from pushing hard every single day. The easy runs and walks are just as important as the speed sessions. They’re where your body recovers, adapts and gets stronger.

Life works exactly the same way.

If your days are filled with pressure, your body needs moments that tell it:

“You’re safe now.”

That might look like:
✨ Five minutes of slow, controlled breathing.
✨ A short meditation.
✨ An easy walk.
✨ Gratitude.
✨ Positive affirmations that remind your nervous system it doesn’t need to stay on high alert.

These aren’t indulgences.

They’re biological tools that help calm the nervous system, support recovery and enable you to perform at your best…not just survive another busy day!!

So today, instead of asking yourself…

“What else can I fit into my day?”

Try asking…

“What can I do today that helps my nervous system feel safe?”

Because the highest-performing people aren’t the ones who can tolerate the most stress.

They’re the ones who’ve learnt when to slow down, recover, and let their body catch up.

💚 Your body isn’t asking you to do more.

It’s asking you to recover.

We often don’t realise we’re repeating a pattern until something makes us stop and really look at what’s happening.

Maybe you keep choosing people who aren’t quite available to you.

You find yourself overthinking every little change in someone’s behaviour.

You keep saying yes when you really want to say no, then feel resentful afterwards.

You work harder and harder, hoping that eventually you’ll feel like you’re doing enough.

You react in the same way whenever you feel criticised, rejected or out of control.

Or you find yourself in completely different situations, with completely different people, but somehow experiencing the same feelings all over again.

Sometimes the hardest part is recognising that the pattern is there.

Once you can see it, you can begin to pause before automatically responding in the familiar way.

And that little pause creates something really powerful: choice.

What if, next time, you interrupted the pattern?

That’s the heart of Pattern Interruption Therapy - creating awareness around the patterns that keep us stuck, so we can begin choosing differently.

A good question to sit with today:

“Where in my life am I repeating something I’m now ready to change?”
If this post resonated DM me INTERRUPT for more journal prompts tailored just for you.

18 years of sobriety today…ODAAT.

Usually I just leave a number on my page to mark the memory.

Today I want to express gratitude for every person that has contributed to this milestone.

Every person who has triggered a reaction in me that would usually lead to a drink.
That provided me with a priceless growth opportunity.

Every person that showed me love when I didn’t know how to recieve and hold it.

Every job that I got made redundant from - that led me to find the courage to follow my purpose.

Above all, grateful to God, my sponsor, my fellowship and my programme for the compass to lead a good life.

As Rumi said, “The wound is the place where the light enters you”. This is certainly my experience.

Grateful for each and every wound, challenge and trigger that builds my strength.

Love and light to all ❤️🙏

THRIVE THURSDAY 🌿
Change what’s happening around you by changing what’s happening within you.

Yesterday I watched the solar eclipse and it got me thinking…

Sometimes we need things to shift around us before we see things differently.

But sometimes we need to shift what’s happening within us first.

We spend so much time trying to change the outside.

The workload.
The emails.
The pressure.
The people.
The never-ending to-do list.

We tell ourselves we’ll slow down when things calm down.

But what if we didn’t wait?

What if we gave ourselves just 20 minutes to step away from all of it?

Not to be productive.
Not to tick something off the list.

Just to pause.

🧘‍♀️ Sit quietly.
🌿 Get outside and notice what’s around you.
📖 Read something that shifts your perspective.
🫁 Take a few deep breaths.
📝 Notice what’s going on in your head.

Because you might come back to exactly the same situation…

…but feel completely different within it.

A little calmer.
A little clearer.
Less reactive.
More present.

And sometimes that’s enough to change how the rest of the day unfolds.

The eclipse was a reminder that change doesn’t always have to be dramatic.

Sometimes it’s quiet.
Sometimes it’s subtle.
Sometimes the biggest shift is happening within us.

So this Thrive Thursday, before you give everyone else your time, your attention and your energy…

Step away from the noise.

Breathe.

Reflect.

Reset.

And ask yourself:

What’s one thing I could do today to reconnect with myself, shift what’s happening within me - and change how I show up in my outer world?

And if you’re craving a little more space to do exactly that, come and join us in the Thrive Together Collective.

Weekly live wellbeing sessions, practical tools, reflection and a supportive space to connect — all designed to help you make your wellbeing part of everyday life.

If you’d like to join us, DM me and I’ll send you the link. I’d love to have you there. 🩵

If today has felt like a lot, this is your reminder to pause. 🤍

Maybe you’re tired.

Maybe you’ve been holding everything together for everyone else.

Maybe nothing particularly dramatic happened today — you’re just… done.

And sometimes the answer isn’t to push harder, think more positively or tell yourself to “get it together.”

Sometimes your mind and body need you to interrupt the pattern.

Stop.
Breathe.
Step away.
Change the thought.
Change the state.
Give yourself a moment to come back to yourself.

Because the patterns we repeat — stress, overthinking, people-pleasing, self-doubt, constantly being “on” — can become so familiar that we don’t even realise we’re running them.

Pattern interruption is about creating a different response.

Not forcing yourself to become someone else.

But giving yourself the opportunity to respond differently to the things that keep triggering the same old cycle.

So if today has been tough…

You don’t need to fix your whole life tonight.

Just interrupt the pattern.

Take a breath.
Put your phone down for five minutes.
Go outside.
Change the room you’re in.
Put your hand on your heart.
Ask yourself:

“What do I actually need right now?”

And start there. 🌿

If you’re recognising yourself in this, DM me the word “RESET” and I’ll tell you a little more about how I use pattern interruption therapy through Aventurine Therapies.

Sunday evening thought 🌿

I took this photo today and it made me think about something.

The water isn’t rushing.

It’s not trying to get somewhere faster.

It’s simply moving.

And I think there’s something in that for those of us who spend so much of our lives “doing”.

After the conversations I’ve been having with senior leaders recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about what happens when we’re constantly operating in response mode.

The next problem.
The next decision.
The next person who needs us.

Until being busy just becomes normal.

And being still feels uncomfortable.

But what if creating space isn’t about stepping away from our ambition?

What if it’s what allows us to hear ourselves clearly enough to know where we’re actually meant to be going?

Sometimes the answer isn’t another strategy, another productivity hack or another thing to add to the list.

Sometimes it’s:

Pause.
Listen.
Notice.
Choose.

That’s where some of the most interesting conversations I’m having with leaders are happening.

Not “How do I fit more into my day?”

But:

“Why do I keep making my life so full that there’s no space left for me?”

That’s a very different question.

And often, it’s where the real work begins.

So as you head into a new week, take a moment to reflect on this:

What would you create space for if you stopped filling every available space?

If that question makes you pause, I’d love to hear what comes up for you.

And if you’d rather have the conversation privately, my DMs are always open. 🌿

What if the reason you’re so busy… isn’t because you have too much to do?

This has been a common theme in the conversations I’ve been having with senior leaders this week.

On the surface, everyone tells me the same thing.

“I just don’t have time.”

No time to exercise.
No time to switch off.
No time to think.
No time to look after themselves.

But as I’ve listened more deeply, I’ve realised it’s rarely about time.

It’s about the weight they’re carrying.

The pressure from every direction.

Holding it together for their teams.

Making difficult decisions.

Being the one everyone turns to when things go wrong.

The calm in everyone else’s storm.

And somewhere in the middle of all that… they’ve quietly disappeared from their own list of priorities.

It made me wonder…

At what point did we start believing that good leadership meant carrying everything alone?

Because the more I reflect, the more I believe boundaries aren’t really about time.

They’re about self-worth.

Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that our value comes from what we produce, how available we are, or how much we can carry.

So we keep saying yes.

We keep pushing through.

We keep telling ourselves we’ll slow down when things settle.

But they rarely do.

The question I keep coming back to is this…

If your self-worth wasn’t tied to your productivity, what would your life look like?

Would your diary look the same?

Would you still feel responsible for holding everything together?

Would you finally believe that looking after yourself isn’t a luxury, but part of your responsibility as a leader?

Perhaps the greatest act of leadership isn’t carrying everyone else.

Perhaps it’s having the courage to care for yourself too.

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Does this resonate with your experience of leadership?
