When Chloe and her husband, Will decided to explore fertility treatment, a recommendation from friends led them to Herts & Essex Fertility Centre after experiencing two chemical pregnancies while under the care of another clinic. After attending one of our information evenings, they knew they'd found the right place.

As an IVF baby herself and having known her own parents struggle with infertility for 20 years before having her, Chloe knew she didn't want to spend years wondering "what if" if they faced difficulties conceiving.

💬 "From day one, it never felt clinical. Every member of the team made us feel like friends and family. Even during such an emotional time, we actually looked forward to our appointments, and I was so sad when I was discharged at 12 weeks!"

During her journey, Chloe was diagnosed with PCOS after years of searching for answers. For the first time, she felt heard, understood and supported, giving her the confidence to move forward with IVF.

When asked what helped make the journey feel more manageable, Chloe shared:

💬 "The main thing was that it all felt manageable. The Salve app helped me stay on top of my medication and the messaging service meant any worries or questions I had were answered, no matter how silly they felt. The treatment process itself was great, everyone was so kind, took the time to explain everything clearly, made sure we understood every next step and were incredibly supportive when I was feeling extremely anxious."

From compassionate care and clear guidance to support at every stage, Chloe always knew she wasn't facing her journey alone. And today… she's the proud mum of a beautiful baby girl. 💕

Her message to anyone just beginning their fertility journey is one of hope:
💬 "It will be ok, whatever your journey looks like. I never imagined we'd need IVF, but now I'm so proud of our journey because it brought us our beautiful daughter." 🌷

Thank you, Chloe, for trusting us with your care and for sharing your story. Your strength, resilience and hope will inspire so many others taking their first steps towards growing their family. 💚

🥚✨ Can you freeze your eggs with PCOS?

Yes ✅ Many people with PCOS can freeze their eggs and it may be a great option for preserving future fertility.

Because PCOS can mean a higher number of follicles, some people respond well to egg-freezing treatment. However, your fertility team will carefully tailor your plan to reduce the risk of complications such as ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).

Your journey starts with understanding your body. 💛

A fertility assessment can help you explore:
✔️ Your egg reserve
✔️ Your hormone levels
✔️ Your personalised treatment option

Netflix hasn't called... yet. 🎬

But if they ever do, this is the story we'd want everyone to hear.

What if one conversation today could help protect your options for tomorrow?

Fertility naturally declines with age. As we get older, both the number and quality of our eggs decrease, which can reduce the chances of successful fertility treatment and pregnancy. An Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) test can help provide an indication of your ovarian reserve, giving you valuable insight into your fertility.

Freezing your eggs at a younger reproductive age may improve the chances of achieving a successful pregnancy in the future.

Egg freezing can be an important option if you:
✨ Are at risk of premature ovarian failure or early menopause.
✨ Are preparing for medical treatment that may affect your fertility.
✨ Want to preserve your fertility for personal reasons while you focus on your career, relationships, or simply because the timing isn't right.

Also known as elective or social egg freezing, fertility preservation is giving more people the opportunity to plan for the future with greater confidence. As more people across the UK choose to start their families later in life, understanding your fertility and knowing your options has never been more important.

Because fertility isn't just part of your story; it's part of your future. And the more we talk about it, the more people can make informed choices with confidence. 💛

Every fertility journey is unique and for Carly and her family, it was a journey filled with hope, heartbreak, resilience and ultimately, joy. 💜

After taking several years to conceive their son, George, Carly and her husband hoped expanding their family would be easier the second time around. But after another year of trying, they found themselves facing the often misunderstood reality of secondary infertility.

They came to Herts & Essex Fertility Centre during a very uncertain time in itself, COVID and when her husband was not able to attend every appointment with her looking for answers, reassurance and hope. Together, we created a treatment plan that included ICSI, fresh embryo transfers and a frozen embryo transfer.

During her first egg collection, more than 20 eggs were retrieved, giving the family real hope for what lay ahead. By the time they reached embryo transfer, they had a first-class embryo, but after what Carly describes as the longest two-week wait, the pregnancy test was heartbreakingly negative. They were, however, able to freeze one precious embryo, affectionately nicknamed "Olaf" by the family.

Determined to keep going, Carly underwent a second fresh cycle, with another successful egg collection and two embryos transferred. Sadly, this cycle also wasn't successful.

Their final chance was Olaf. ❄️🤍 As with every embryo transfer, the two-week wait felt endless. When Carly experienced bleeding and cramping, she convinced herself it hadn't worked. To distract themselves while waiting for the outcome the family went out for a walk together, preparing themselves for difficult news.

Instead, they received the news they had been dreaming of; their frozen embryo had been successful!
Today, their beautiful daughter Daisy is three years old, bringing endless joy to her family and sharing a wonderful bond with her proud big brother, George.

Supporting you through every injection, every egg collection, every two-week wait and celebrating Daisy's arrival has been an absolute privilege.

We hope your story gives strength to others who are still on their path to parenthood. 💜

For some women, the journey to parenthood takes an unexpected path.🤰

Finding out that you cannot use your own eggs can be an incredibly emotional time. Many women who come to us for fertility treatment face this reality for a variety of reasons, from early menopause following chemotherapy or radiotherapy, previous ovarian surgery, unexplained causes, or being born without ovaries. 🤍

For others, eggs are still being produced, but their quality may mean that fertilisation or implantation is unlikely.

Whatever the reason, we understand that this journey can bring a mix of emotions, questions and hope for the future. Egg donation can offer a new possibility for those dreaming of becoming parents. 💕

Our team is here to provide support, guidance, and compassionate care every step of the way. ☺️

💛 “I never felt like just another patient.”

Today, we’re sharing the incredibly moving story of Bodhi’s mum, a journey of courage, hope and determination to follow her dream of becoming a mum.

Charlie first heard about Herts & Essex Fertility Centre through a friend of her brother, who had previously received treatment with us using donor s***m. After visiting another fertility clinic where she never quite felt comfortable, hearing about someone else’s positive experience gave her the confidence to explore Herts & Essex. And from her very first appointment, she knew she had found the right place.

“The biggest difference was that I felt truly seen. That might sound like a small thing, but it meant everything to me.” 🥰

“At my previous clinic, I walked in, answered a few questions, had a scan and walked back out again. At Herts & Essex, the nurses took the time to get to know me. They looked at me, they spoke to me, and they were genuinely interested in my story and why I’d chosen to become a mum this way. I never felt like just another patient.”

For as long as she could remember, becoming a mum was something she had always dreamed of. Over the years, life took different turns, relationships that didn’t work out, travelling, building her business and focusing on her future, but the hope of having a family never disappeared.

As she reached her 30s, she always believed that everything would happen at the right time. She thought she would eventually meet the right person and that motherhood would naturally follow.

But as time passed, she began to think more carefully about her options. At 35, she started researching fertility preservation, including egg freezing, IVF and ICSI, wanting to give herself the best possible chance of becoming a mum in the future.

Eventually, she realised she didn’t want to keep waiting for the “right” relationship to come along before pursuing the family she had always wanted.

“Dating had started to feel like a box-ticking exercise rather than something enjoyable. I asked myself, ‘Am I dating because I genuinely want to, or because I’m hoping it’ll lead to having a family?’ The answer was obvious. Having a family mattered most.”

That realisation led her to make the brave and empowering decision to become a solo mum.

With fertility treatment not currently available through the NHS for women choosing to become solo parents, she made the decision to fund her own treatment and explore donor s***m IVF.

She chose our clinic because she felt reassured by the donor selection process and loved that everything could be managed under one roof, with a team she trusted.

Following IVF treatment, she was fortunate to have a good number of eggs collected, resulting in six embryos. Although her first frozen embryo transfer was sadly unsuccessful, she found the strength to try again.

For her second transfer, she decided not to tell anyone. She wanted to protect herself from having to share the disappointment if it didn’t work.

Thankfully, she never had to. 💚

That frozen embryo transfer gave her the greatest gift, her beautiful little boy, Bodhi, who is now 2.5 years old. 💙

Reflecting on her experience, her advice to anyone beginning their fertility journey is simple but powerful:
“Every fertility journey is different, but we’re all hoping for the same outcome. Find people who understand what you’re going through. Whether they’re currently on their own journey or have been through it already, having someone who truly ‘gets it’ can make all the difference.”

Thank you for sharing your story with us. We feel incredibly honoured to have supported you on your journey to motherhood and to have played a small part in helping you meet your little boy. ✨
