Does every morning feel like a battle you’re losing?

If your child is experiencing intense distress about attending school, you know that the current road is exhausting. You’ve likely tried navigating it alone—the encouraging, the worrying, the sheer effort to just get through the school gates.

It’s incredibly isolating.

But as the video mentions, sometimes the bravest thing you can do is try a new path.

Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) isn't about bad behaviour; it's about overwhelming anxiety. The "old path" of white-knuckling through it by yourselves doesn't have to be forever.

The new path starts with support. It starts with understanding the 'why' behind the fear. You don't have to walk this route alone anymore.

At Tink and Pickle, we’re here to help you find that new way forward.
Mental Health Coaching for children, adolescents and parents can support these bumps in the road. Leading to calmer days and evenings and stronger relationships

As the parent of a child who had anxiety and separation anxiety, at primary school, I know exactly how it feels to leave your crying, sad, traumatised child with the teacher at the door.
Now, as a 14 year old at high school, my daughter has her coping strategies in place to get herself into school every morning, but its not easy and those feelings shouldn't be ignored.

As the picture says below- being in school isn't the priority. Being ok, feeling safe and supported and being heard, is the priority
