RIP John Braid ❤️

It’s with great sadness that we announce that John Braid died peacefully with his daughter by his side on Saturday 4th July 2026.

John was a devoted husband to the late Norah, an amazing dad to his daughter, Joanne and son, John, a much loved father in law to Darren and Tania, an adored grandad to Lewis and Matthew, a treasured brother to his sister Margaret and a cherished friend to many.

John’s funeral will be held on Tuesday 28th July at 12pm at Saltwell Crematorium.

Following the service, there’ll be an opportunity to continue the celebration of John’s life at The Angel View Hotel.

Family flowers only please. If anyone would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers, any donations are to be made to St Benedict Hospice in honour of John. There will also be a donation box available on the day of the funeral for any cash donations to be made.

🔷 Does your Funeral Director quote a price and stick to it? Did you know it’s against guidelines to “beat” or price match other Funeral Directors prices or try and undercut them in any way? The price we state on our posters/leaflets is the price you pay (*subject to change). If we did this in any other way it would be very unfair to charge one family one price and another family another price.

🔷 Is your loved one just a number? We are not sales people, we genuinely care and are passionate about our work and your loved one.

🔷 Does your Funeral Director have honest, genuine reviews? Check out our lovely, genuine reviews and the hundreds of thank you cards we receive from the families who have entrusted us to care for their loved ones.

✨✨We know it’s not always about price but we have done some research and checked some prices with other local Funeral Directors and some are almost double the price of what you would pay with us. You will still receive the same care and attention from ourselves with no comprise to the service you receive but without the huge price. ✨✨

At L&G Family Funeral Directors our price starts at £1295 for a direct cremation. This ranges up to a deluxe funeral which includes a horse and carriage, 1 hearse and 1 limousine (priced at £4995) which, again, is almost half the price to some local companies. We also support DWP claims 🫶🏻

Milly was a devoted wife to William, an adored mum to Carol and Joanne, a cherished step-mum to Simon and Tim, a treasured nanni/grandma to Sam, Amy, Dave, Shaun, Jason, Andrew and Erin, a dearly loved great-grandma to Ava, Freddie, Mollie, Frankie, Lucas, Marnie and Harry, a valued mother-in-law to Phil, Allan and Paula, a beloved sister to Lillian and a friend to so many.

Elizabeth was a dearly loved mam to Joanne, an adored gran to Frances and gran-in-law to Dillon, a cherished great-granny to Lucia and Olivia and a treasured friend to so many.
