We are incredibly proud to share that our co-founder, Shirley Smith, has been awarded an MBE in the Kingβs Birthday Honours List 2026 for her services to su***de prevention and mental health.
Following the death of her son Daniel in 2005, Shirley helped establish If U Care Share with a determination to ensure other families received the support, understanding and hope that hers did not have access to at the time.
Over the last 21 years, Shirley has been at the forefront of su***de prevention, tirelessly campaigning for change, influencing national policy, supporting those affected by su***de, and helping to develop initiatives that continue to save lives across the UK.
While this recognition is awarded to Shirley, she would be the first to say it reflects the efforts of everyone who has supported the charity over the years. Staff, trustees, volunteers, fundraisers, supporters, and the many families who have trusted us during their darkest moments have all played a part in this journey.
This honour is a testament to Shirley's unwavering commitment to making a difference and shines a light on the importance of su***de prevention and the support available for those affected.
Please join us in congratulating Shirley Smith MBE on this remarkable and incredibly deserved achievement.
