Starting school or returning back after time off can be really overwhelming and can cause anxiety for children who are Neurodiverse.

Here are some tips which may help, what helps your child settle back in?

1) A week before get settled back into a sleep routine ready for the early mornings.
2) Talk to the school about any reasonable adjustments that can be made, such as your child going in a few minutes early, or taking a comfort item in with them. Let them know about any sensory triggers etc so they are aware.
3) Have a visual countdown with what will be happening and when - you could include pictures of the morning routine or of the school.
4) Take time to listen and reassure your child with any worries or questions they may have.
5) Get your child involved with packing their school bag so they know where everything is.
