It's been a long time since I posted here..As I say, this is blossom on a tree near me but I don't know what kind! It.this feels like a good day to offer a few thoughts. Happy Easter!

Daily 7: Caring.

"Teach us to care and not to care,
Teach us to sit still."

TS Eliot- Ash Wednesday.

I've always loved these lines! At the moment with Covid making even holding someone's hand impossible in some cases, I do appreciate all who care for others in practical ways. Carers, nurses, doctors, OT, pharmacists..
The practical aspect of caring is easy to understand, not always easy to do...
But the smallest thing done with love..makes a difference.
I think that's why sitting still is also necessary.
It's so easy to be busy busy...and running on empty.
The photo is of a boy brushing his mum's hair as they waited for a train.i hadn't noticed before this morning how the light shines on them. Pre Covid times of course.
How can I express love in a practical way today? And notice the caring there is from others too!

Day 3 Virtue : Accountability.

Not an easy one! In fact I was surprised to see it in the list. It feels more like an expectation or a demand. I experienced it a lot in my work life. So much of it felt imposed, filling in forms and ticking boxes. I think some of that was counterproductive...
More recently I've learned it can be a help to focussing attention and also a kind of support, as in having an accountability buddy... but still not what I would call a virtue!
That would be more about accountability to myself. Easier and harder at the same time. What have I done with life, time, talents, energy so far and more importantly what do I do with them today? Definitely a work in progress! One of the "tougher" virtues. .
Next day update...just before moving on...... I now see accountability a bit differently and more as something positive. ..it also includes owning power..choices, treating oneself kindly....and a question about how intuition fits in...
