3rd August saw Gill and Leslie come and join us for Church service, here at Oaklands Church service is so important to us it gives us a time to reflect and remember and appreciate our faith, some of us would have been avid church goes so bringing church to Oakland's is the best way to connect to our faith.
We also love having Gill and Leslie visiting us because we always have a good chat after service.

Sunday 2nd August saw our residents being visited by one of Chesters amazing local motorcycle clubs! With brilliant bikes and lovely bikers it was no surprise that they had an absolutely amazing time!!

After watching the bikes parade in our residents got the chance to have a look at these amazing machines, and chat with the people that ride them and some of them even discussed their own pasts of either being motorcycle superfans or having ridden them themselves!!

We are so thankful to our visitors for making our afternoon absolutely amazing (and to the weather for not scorching or soaking us!!) and hope to see them with us again!!

Geoff and Alison celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on Saturday 1st of August, in our new family suite which anyone is able to use if they would like to!

The happy couple shared their family photos, and shared dinner, breakfast and lunch together, having an amazing time together just enjoying each others company on their special day!

Today was our Christmas in July party here at Oaklands!

With Christmas songs sang for us by Andy, Christmas themed snacks and decorations we did out best to make July feel even just a little bit like December, even if we are five months and one day early for the real Christmas!

All of our residents had an absolute blast, especially with a surprise visit from the Grinch and the ensuing cotton ball snowball fight!

Wednesday 22nd July saw a new singer come to visit us, Sarah sang all the oldies for us and we had a blast. We sang our hearts out to Daisy Daisy the full version which everyone found very funny, we also had musicals, Elvis, Beetles and many more favourites.

Singing is always a firm favourite in Oakland's and we do like a good old boogie and sing a long, the weather was a little cloudy but we made the most of the warm temperature and we had a blast in the garden once again.

Monday 20th July we sang and danced and played musical instruments with Kids planet.
This is always a hit with the residents because they love to see the children, this month we had children from the baby room all the way up to pre school children and there was a lot of them which made the visit a very enjoyable one.

The children we all very well behaved and loved singing and interacting with the residents. Special moments like this are important for a multi - generational community and also sparks memories for our residents from then their children were that age.

Sunday 19th July also saw our residents playing games in the garden, there was lots of competition amongst us. There was lots of fun and laughter and once again the sun was out for us to make the most of the summertime.

Sunday 19th July saw one of our residents go on a tour of her favourite football club, we have asked residents if they would like to go out and experience something special to them as an individual and we delivered.

We went out in the morning and enjoyed time in Liverpool and a walk around the stadium learning all the history of the team, seeing what the changing rooms look like for home and away teams and they are very different, all about getting into your opponents mind before the game, or at least that was what we were told.
One thing bout Liverpool football club I could not fault was their staff, each individual game our resident the time to look around, the time to talk with them and ask them how their day was going and you never felt rushed and in the way, we were treated like VIPs. Our trip would not have been complete without a look around the museum and then an ice cream before heading back home.

These kind of trips are special because they are unique to the individual. If we can make a special moment happen then we will do so.

Thursday 2 July saw us at Cheshire Ice Cream Farm for the afternoon and everyone had an absolute blast!

With a million and one flavours to pick from everyone found something they loved and had a blast exploring the activities and decorations all over the farm including the go kart track where a member of staff and a relative had a race round just for fun!!

Al out residents had a blast and so did we if the calls for another visit right away are anything to go off! We can't wait to do this again soon!
