✨ Flashback to old-school beauty training ✨
You know you’ve been in the industry a while when the old training photos come out… and the hair deserves a post all of its own! 😂
Back when Laura trained as a beauty therapist, training was full-time and took three years. Anatomy & Physiology was studied to A-Level standard, uniform and presentation requirements were strict, and hours upon hours were spent learning, practising and perfecting treatments.
There were no shortcuts. You learnt your skills, practised them over and over, made mistakes, improved and kept going until you could deliver treatments to a genuinely high standard.
And customer service? That was considered every bit as important as the treatment itself.
Looking back, Laura is incredibly grateful for that foundation because it taught her something that has stayed with her throughout her entire career: standards matter.
Proper training matters. Qualifications matter. Continuing to learn matters. And when somebody trusts you with their skin, body and wellbeing, being properly trained and maintaining high professional standards should never be optional.
The beauty industry has changed enormously since these photos were taken, and Laura’s journey has taken her a very long way — but those foundations have never left her. They’re the same values we continue to hold at The Scented Garden today. 🌿
Although some things are probably best left firmly in the past…
