NEW TO THE BOUTIQUE | Meet lool.

Some of the cleverest eyewear we’ve seen recently also happens to be some of the lightest.

We’re very excited to introduce lool, a Barcelona-based eyewear brand with a rather different approach to designing glasses.

Their story began with a simple ambition: to create an exceptional hinge without screws.

The result? Patented engineering, beautifully considered materials and frames that feel almost impossibly light when you pick them up.

Drawing inspiration from architecture and industrial design, lool creates eyewear where every component has a purpose. Nothing unnecessary. Nothing added just for the sake of it.

Our little corner of St Werburgh Street has been home to us for over 40 years, and while plenty has changed in that time, the thing we’ve always wanted is for our boutique to feel like somewhere you enjoy spending time.

One of the perks of the job… getting first dibs on the new frames. 👀

When Michael from Anne & Valentin arrived with trays of new eyewear recently, it didn’t take long before Hazel was having a proper look through.

And by “look”, we obviously mean trying on as many as possible. 😄

It’s one of the things we genuinely love about what we do. Our relationships with the brands and their representatives mean we often get an early look at new designs, colours and collections — sometimes before they’ve even made their way onto our displays.

And we’re still just as enthusiastic about trying them on as we hope you are.

It also means that when we choose what comes into the boutique, it’s never simply a case of ordering from a catalogue. We handle the frames, try them, discuss them and work out which pieces we think our customers will really enjoy.

Although occasionally we have to remind the team that they can’t keep them all…

Some sunglasses just get the colour combination right.

The Saint Laurent SL 545 takes the familiar aviator and gives it a distinctly different character with translucent brown acetate, rich green lenses and that fine metal brow detail running across the top.

There’s something wonderfully autumnal about this particular combination too — warm amber tones, deep green and just enough of that unmistakable Saint Laurent attitude.

Bold without being loud, and a brilliant example of how colour and material can completely change a familiar silhouette.

They’re currently sitting rather beautifully in our Saint Laurent window display, but we’d much rather see them on you.

For us, it’s about building relationships with our customers and being here for the whole journey — from helping you understand what you need, to finding eyewear you genuinely love, and looking after it long after you’ve taken it home.

Sometimes that means advice. Sometimes it’s an adjustment, a repair or a little tweak to the fit. And sometimes it’s simply welcoming a familiar face back through the door.

Meet BOP.

Yesterday brought a rather exciting delivery of new Anne & Valentin frames to the boutique, but amongst them was one we kept coming back to.

This one.

BOP is part of Anne & Valentin’s BALLOON collection, and it’s a brilliant example of what this wonderfully creative French brand does so well.

Made in France from acetate, its generous square shape plays with volume and varying thicknesses, giving the frame real presence while opening up and drawing attention to the eyes.

It’s bold. A little playful. Beautifully sculpted. And full of personality.

Anne & Valentin actually describes BOP as the most classic frame within the BALLOON concept — which probably tells you everything you need to know about just how much fun the rest of the collection is. 😄

This is exactly the sort of eyewear we love having in the boutique. Something you might spot on the display and think, could I really wear that?

Hopefully, it’s how you felt while you were here.

Is it just us… or does this all feel rather familiar? 👀

DITA has unveiled its Fall 2026 campaign, Join The Family — a wonderfully eccentric world of grand surroundings, bold characters, impeccable style and just the right amount of mischief.

Meanwhile, there happens to be a certain series everyone seems to be talking about right now involving country estates, lavish lifestyles, beautifully dressed characters and a family that’s anything but ordinary…

The timing couldn’t be better…

DITA describes its new campaign as a meeting of tradition and irreverence, bringing together contrasting personalities who remain distinctly themselves.

And that feels very DITA.

Some eyewear is meant to be discovered in person.

Yesterday we welcomed Michael from Anne & Valentin into the boutique to take us through some of their latest collections — and, as always, there was plenty to talk about.

Colour, shape, materials, personality… Anne & Valentin has a wonderfully distinctive way of looking at eyewear. But there’s something else about the brand that we particularly appreciate.

As Michael explained to us, Anne & Valentin chooses to work with independent opticians.

That means their frames are kept within the kind of boutiques where you can pick them up, try them on, talk about them and have someone help you understand which shapes and colours really work for you.

It feels particularly fitting for a brand that was itself born from the vision of two opticians in Toulouse.

And it supports something we care deeply about too: keeping brilliant eyewear, specialist knowledge and genuinely personal service together.

Because these aren’t frames you really understand from a photograph.

You need to put them on.
