Today marks World Alzheimer's Month and this year's theme is 'The earlier you know, the more you can do'. ๐ง ๐ค
It is estimated that 55 million people globally are living with dementia, and this is set to rise to 78 million by 2030 - that's almost +42% in under five years. ๐คฏ
๐ก Our villages are open to local communities and we invite everyone to pop in for a chat with the team. You don't have to know someone living with dementia to find out more about it. Come and say hello, today.
An early, accurate diagnosis is the crucial first step towards accessing treatment, care and support, enabling those living with a diagnosis to live independently for as long as possible.
But diagnosis must be the beginning of support, not the end. Did you know that up to 85% of people living with dementia may not be accessing post-diagnostic care? Prevailing stigma that surrounds dementia must not be a barrier for those seeking a diagnosis!
We call for health and care systems to be ready to recognise dementia as a major health challenge, and support people up to the point of diagnosis and beyond.
This September, can join us as we shine a light on the importance of an early diagnosis. Take part in the campaign today! https://bit.ly/3UkBuyD
The earlier you know, the more you can do. A dementia diagnosis matters.
