Healthy New Me Looking after health and wellness through excellent nutrition and positive mental health messages

At Healthy New Me, I’m passionate about supporting women through perimenopause, menopause, and beyond β€” helping them feel healthier, more confident, and more connected. I focus on nutrition, mindfulness, and creating a strong sense of community, so no one has to go through this journey alone. With my background as a Registered General Nurse (RGN), Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN),

Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and Licensed Menopause Champion with the Menopause Experts Group, I combine clinical expertise with a compassionate, personal approach. Through group sessions, one-to-one coaching, online support, and in-person meetups, Healthy New Me offers flexible, tailored guidance to help women take control of their health and wellbeing β€” not just during menopause, but for the years beyond.

Have you ever looked in the mirror and felt as though you don't quite recognise yourself anymore? πŸ€”

Not just physically...
But emotionally.
Mentally.

Like somewhere along the way you've lost the person you used to be.

If that sounds familiar, I want you to know one thing...

You are not alone.

Over the next few days I'll be sharing a series exploring why so many women feel this way during perimenopause and menopause, and more importantly, how we can begin to find ourselves again.
If today's video resonated with you, I'd love to know...

πŸ’¬ Have you ever found yourself asking, "Where have I gone?"

Meet Alan πŸ’š

Alan is 49.

He's the sort of man who doesn't always say how he feels.

He shows it instead.

He makes the tea.

He fills the car with fuel.

He puts the bins out.

He reaches for Emma's hand when they walk together.

For over twenty years they've been a team.

Everyone who knows them can see how much they love each other.

But lately...

Something has changed.

Emma seems so different.

She's exhausted all the time.

She falls asleep on the sofa.

When Alan leans in for a kiss, she sometimes turns her cheek.

Not every time.

Just often enough that he quietly stops trying.

The children notice it too.

Mum gets cross over the smallest things.

She snaps.

Then she cries because she snapped.

Alan finds himself walking on eggshells.

Not because he's frightened of Emma.

Because he knows...

This isn't the woman he married.

He tries to help.

He makes more cups of tea.

He cooks dinner.

He quietly takes on more around the house.

Nothing seems to make a difference.

Then one evening Emma comes home from work, pulls on her Oodie and falls fast asleep across the bed.

Properly asleep.

For the first time in weeks.

Alan quietly looks in, smiles, and closes the bedroom door.

He sleeps on the sofa.

Not because he doesn't want to be beside her.

Because he can't bear to wake her.

The next morning...

Emma wakes up convinced he's been having an affair.

She says awful things.

Things she doesn't really believe.

Things she can't seem to stop herself saying.

And then...

She breaks.

She slides onto the kitchen floor in tears and whispers,

"I can't keep living like this."

In that moment Alan realises something.

This isn't about him.

His wife isn't rejecting him.

She isn't falling out of love with him.

She's hurting.

And she needs help.

❀️

Perimenopause doesn't just affect women.

It affects relationships.

It affects families.

It affects the people who love them too.

Sometimes the kindest thing we can do is stop asking,

"What's wrong with you?"
..and start asking,

"What are you going through?"

πŸ’š If you know an Alan... or if you are Alan... this one's for you.

Today, I had the privilege of spending time with the SBC group at Macmillan Support Centre, Chesterfield, talking all things nutrition. πŸ’—
For those who may not know, SBC stands for Secondary Breast Cancer (also known as Stage 4 or metastatic breast cancer). It isn't currently curable, but that doesn't mean these women are at end-of-life care. Many describe where they are as "the long middle" – living with cancer whilst continuing to live their lives, make memories, create, laugh, support one another, and advocate for others.
What struck me most was how warm, welcoming, funny, and engaged everyone was. We had some fantastic conversations about nutrition, well-being, and managing symptoms.
And, in true Healthy New Me style, no topic was off limits! πŸ˜† We found ourselves talking about symptoms associated with medical menopause, including vaginal and vulval dryness, and I was able to share some practical hints and tips around hydration, tissue health and strategies that may help reduce discomfort, bladder weakness and recurrent UTI symptoms.
These women are some of the nicest people I've had the pleasure of meeting, and I left feeling inspired by their resilience, honesty, and generosity.
The group members are also incredibly talented artists and will soon be displaying their artwork in Sheffield. 🎨
Please do give a follow on Instagram to learn more about their journeys and to see some of their amazing artwork.
Thank you so much for welcoming me and trusting me with your stories today. πŸ’• It was an absolute privilege.

✨ The first week of our first ever Healthy Habit Focus Fortnight is nearly complete... and what a journey it has been! ✨
When many of our members first joined Healthy New Me's Breakfast Nutrition Club, their focus was often on weight loss. But over time, something much bigger has happened.
πŸ’š They've rediscovered why their health matters.
πŸ’š They've reconnected with their goals and values.
πŸ’š They've started building habits that support not just their weight but their wellbeing, confidence, energy, and future health.

Over the past week, members have immersed themselves in daily coaching, educational videos, and reflective exercises designed to help them pause, think, and take action.

The feedback has been incredible. Members are telling me that:

✨ The coaching has helped them stay focused and accountable.
✨ The education videos have given them a deeper understanding of their health
✨ The daily reflections have reignited their motivation and helped them identify what really matters.

This isn't about perfection. This isn't about quick fixes.
It's about creating sustainable habits, understanding ourselves better, and making choices that support the life we want to live.
I am so proud of every single person who has taken part. Watching the shifts in mindset, confidence, and self-awareness has been an absolute privilege.
Healthy New Me has always been about more than weight loss. It's about helping people become the healthiest, happiest version of themselvesβ€”and this fortnight has shown exactly why that matters.
🌟 Small habits. Big changes. Lasting results. 🌟

I'll update you on how they got on in just over a week. I hope you wish them well moving into week 2 GO TEAM HNM!!!
