🏍️ BIG UPDATE so you know why I've had to step back from what I normally do to spend time & work on this project:
First of thank you to each and everyone one of you who have already put their name down on the iPetition to show the support is behind this and to everyone who has reached out.
The Vision for the Rev It Forward Bikers Memorial Bench!
To my amazing biking community, we want to share exactly what we are building together with the Permanent Hybrid Bikers Memorial on the iconic Long Bench at the Littlehampton seafront in WestSussex.
This isn’t just a monument—it is going to be the first of its kind in the world, bridging permanent remembrance with live, immediate support. While this landmark is designed by bikers for the biking community, it is built to help the entire wider community. Anyone sitting on this bench—whether a rider, a local resident, child or a visitor—will have access to its life-saving resources.
Here is exactly what we aim to achieve together:
1. A 50-Slat Bench for Maximum Visual Impact in conjunction with the original long bench enabling the whole Long bench to be one virtual bikers memorial and one stop hub for help and support for the whole community.
We are looking at securing a dedicated 50-slat section of the Long Bench. This isn't just about size; it is designed for visual impact along the seafront. It will stand out as a powerful, unavoidable landmark that commands attention, honors our lost riders with the dignity they deserve, and makes everyone stop, think, and look.
2. Boosting Tourism & Supporting Local businesses because this will be a world-first landmark, it will become a major destination for the global biking community and tourists alike. By drawing more visitors and riding groups to the Littlehampton seafront throughout the year, this project will actively bring increased footfall to our area, directly supporting our fantastic local cafes, restaurants, shops, and businesses.
🚦 3. Road Safety & Public Awareness.
With that massive visual presence, this landmark will serve as a permanent reminder to the driving public to "Think Bike". By placing road safety and awareness at the forefront of the seafront, the project aims to educate all road users, reduce accidents, and protect lives before a tragedy happens.
📱 4. A "Hybrid" Lifeline (Support on the Phone for Everyone)
This bench will actively protect people. It merges a physical monument with instant digital and telephone links to support. If anyone is sitting on that bench in distress, they will have direct phone access to vital services via their mobile:
Mental Health Motorbike for specialized mental health care.
DocBike Sussex for rapid road safety guidance, training resources, and trauma support.
A unified community welfare hub for anyone—biker or not—struggling with grief, PTSD, isolation, or general well-being.
🏫 5. Community & Educational Outreach.
The bench will serve as an open-air refuge for general public well-being. We plan to use it as an educational space for local school and youth group visits to foster early awareness of road safety and motorcycle vulnerability. It stands as a powerful symbol of how the biking community protects its own and supports the wider public.
📝 HOW WE GET THERE: THE NEXT STEPS To secure this 50-slat lease linked with the massive long bench and bring this incredible asset to our town, we need to present our case to Arun District Council. But before we do, the Council needs to see the power of our community support.👉
I need 500 physical signatures to prove the overwhelming demand for this sanctuary. You don't have to be a biker to get the benefit from this.
Keep your eyes on this page—we will be announcing exactly where and when you can sign the petition over the coming days.
Let’s come together, hit this target, and build a high-impact lifeline that honours the past, protects the future, and supports our local community. Ride safe,
Joe @ Rev It Forward
The below picture is only a rough idea of the virtual side to it, this is a work in progress to give you an idea of what I want to achieve not only for us but our future generations there is still a lot to do.
If you go to iPetition and search Rev It Forward you can add your name to show the community is behind this.
