Happy international tea day... β˜•οΈπŸ«–β€οΈ

Am sitting in my garden, in a sunny spot, looking at the flowers, listening to the birds and drinking a cup of tea.πŸŒΈπŸ¦β˜€οΈ A mindful moment in a busy day of consultations and client plans.

I stopped drinking tea in favour of coffee years ago - I loved the buzz of coffee and tea was dull in comparison.

But when my parents moved close to me, they started to make me a cup of tea when I popped round. There is something so comforting and 'home' about a good cup of tea - especially when someone makes it for you ❀️

I recommend tea to my clients often - green tea is especially rich in antioxidants (polyphenols) and can help with everything from hormonal and skin health to metabolism and weight loss.🍡

Herbal teas like lemon balm, chamomile and lavender are really calming to the nervous system - and drinking them is so much nicer and can be effective as a supplement.πŸ‹

And spiced teas like chai and similar ginger/cinnamon herbal teas give extra polyphenol boosts - great for digestion, circulation and more. 🫚

My tea explorations took me to a lovely cafe in Manchester yesterday, where my son and I shared a sneaky cream tea - he ate the scone and I had the pot of delicious tea with rose petals and citrus peel. I'm learning that posh tea can be as good as proper coffee! πŸ«–

Hope you've had a good cup of tea today! β˜•οΈβ˜€οΈ

Bloody Women! 😱❀️

No, absolutely not a rejection of my client base nor a change in career direction - but a show in Salford, that I am participating in tonight! ✨️

πŸ™Œ Its a show conceived and written by the brilliant - writer, poet and performer - all about women, their hormones and their period/reproductive struggles. The theme is women being imprisoned by their hormones and is inspired by her own, and many other women's, hormonal health struggles - and by her work as a writer in residence at a women's prison in Manchester.

❀️ She draws clever, funny, and I suspect a bit rude, parallels between women's hormonal imprisonment and women in prison. There will be jokes, songs, comedy, a brilliant play set in a prison- all by amazingly creative artists - and then me.... not being funny, definitely not singing, but talking about the power of nutrition that every woman can access to help break free of hormonal hell.

⭐️ Out of my comfort zone - hell yes!

⭐️ Excited - also a big yes!

I have a PhD on periods, 25 years experience in medical research in women's health and a 5 year career so far as a Nutritional Therapist helping women to use simple, doable nutrition and lifestyle changes to transform their hormonal and reproductive lives. πŸ’ͺ

❀️ My mission is to empower women with knowledge of what is happening inside their bodies and how they can help themselves to have a happier relationship with their hormones. ❀️

But not through the medium of song! πŸ™‰ (Nor dance thankfully as I currently have a broken foot due to perimenopausal clumsiness and some silly steps in my hallway πŸ™ˆ)

πŸ™ Thank you to Jenny Berry for this incredible experience and to the Arts Council for funding it.

Happy ChristmasπŸŽ„πŸŽβ›„οΈ to all my clients and followers...

I have had the pleasure of working with so many lovely clients this year, supporting them through IVF, pregnancy after loss, challenging perimenopause and emotional health symptoms, and also helping clients regain energy, cognitive function and overcome digestive problems. I've also run group workshops on nutrition and menopause and metabolic health.

I changed careers from being a medical researcher so I could help people more directly, and nothing brings me more pleasure. I may not make as much money but I still feel way more successful in this role. 😊

I've had so many lovely messages over the year and especially the last few days - and today this gorgeous Christmas table decoration was left at my mailbox by a client. πŸŽ„ Thank you to
everyone who has entrusted me to support them on their personal health journeys.

It's been a very tricky year personally for many reasons, but my work has carried me through (along with the love and support of friends and family). Work is my form of self care πŸ§˜β€β™‚οΈ

I hope you all have a Christmas filled with moments of happiness and joy. I'll be back in the New Year after a brief break (if you can call school holidays a break!). See you on the other side

Back to it!! πŸ’ͺ

It's been a long long summer but the kids are finally back in school!

Like many trapped in school years, September feels more like the start of the year more than January! Time to get back on it!

So, with 3 kids dispatched safely to school (one on his birthday πŸŽ‚!), I dragged myself back to the gym (it was great, if hard πŸ‹β€β™€οΈ) and then enjoyed a protein rich breakfast and coffee in the morning sunshine - ON MY OWN!! (Well, with just a greedy labrador for company).

Now off to open my computer and launch back into work again. Lots of exciting plans ahead for the autumn and some lovely new clients to support πŸ₯‘πŸ₯˜πŸ₯πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ

Hope you all find some time for you again and enjoy the week ahead. X
