There are some moments that remind us just how powerful memories can be.
During one of our daily chats with our wonderful 103-year-old resident, Betty, we discovered another remarkable chapter of her life. Alongside working as an engineer on Lancaster Bombers during the war, Betty was also a talented ballet teacher. Her love of dance is still evident today, as she encourages us all to point our toes and stretch each morning.
Wanting to celebrate Betty’s lifelong passion, we invited some talented young performers from a local dance school to visit Tall Trees Glade and perform especially for her.
It was an incredibly emotional afternoon. Watching Betty’s face light up as the dancers took to the floor was something none of us will forget. Through tears of joy, she said, “This takes me back 80 years. I can see myself up there on stage again. It’s so wonderful… how I loved to dance.”
The performance became even more special when Betty stepped into her role as teacher once again, sharing her knowledge and offering the young dancers some expert advice. Her top tip for staying active at the wonderful age of 103?
“Bend and stretch every morning.”
Moments like these remind us how important it is to celebrate every person’s story, honour lifelong passions, and create opportunities that bring treasured memories to life.
A heartfelt thank you to Daisy and Lydia from Deborah Manning School of Dance for helping to create such a memorable and meaningful experience for Betty. Your kindness, talent and generosity brought so much joy, and we will treasure this afternoon for a long time to come.

Football fever came to Tall Trees Glade as we welcomed Banbury United Community Coach Ryan for a fantastic afternoon of World Cup-themed fun in the sunshine.

Residents and staff enjoyed learning new ball skills, taking penalties and putting their football talents to the test. There was plenty of friendly competition, laughter and encouragement as everyone got involved and cheered each other on.

Activities like these are about so much more than the game. Spending time outdoors, enjoying the sunshine and topping up on vitamin D, while improving mobility, balance and hand-eye coordination, all contribute to supporting physical wellbeing and bringing smiles to everyone's faces.

A huge thank you to Ryan for an energetic and enjoyable session. We can't wait for the next match!

What a full week we've had at Tall Trees Glade! 🌿🇬🇧❤️

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed celebrating Trooping the Colour, with the occasion bringing back wonderful memories while honouring our history, the monarchy, and the military. The celebrations sparked nostalgic conversations and lively discussions as residents shared stories and reflected on past experiences.

We also took time to celebrate the enormous impact that carers have on the lives of our residents during Carer's week. The love, dedication, and support shown by our staff, families, and friends were recognised and truly appreciated. Residents enjoyed making heartfelt thank-you cards, writing personal messages of gratitude, and creating thoughtful gifts, including beautifully hand-decorated biscuits, to show their appreciation.

It has been a week full of reflection, gratitude, creativity, and togetherness. A huge thank you to everyone who helps make Tall Trees Glade such a caring and supportive community.

Bringing the garden indoors with our Mobile Gardening Trolley

At Tall Trees Glade Care Home, we understand just how important gardening can be for health, happiness, and overall wellbeing. That’s why our Mobile Gardening Trolley brings the benefits of gardening directly into our communal spaces and residents’ rooms.

Gardening is much more than planting flowers — it supports emotional wellbeing, encourages movement and independence, stimulates the senses, sparks memories, and creates meaningful moments of connection.

For many residents, spending time with plants can help reduce stress, improve mood, encourage conversation, and provide a sense of purpose and achievement. By bringing nature closer, we are ensuring everyone can experience these benefits, regardless of mobility or ability.

From potting plants and exploring different textures and scents to simply enjoying being surrounded by greenery, our residents are enjoying all the positive effects that gardening can bring.

Because wellbeing grows when we nurture both people and plants.

Forget-Me-Nots for Dementia Action Week

Our talented residents have been busy creating beautiful 3D Forget-Me-Not flowers, carefully painted in lovely lilac and blue tones to display around Tall Trees Glade. Each flower symbolises remembrance, love, and support for those affected by dementia.

The home has been filled with creativity, laughter, and joy throughout the week, and the positive energy that Abbie brings shines through in every activity she leads. Her passion and encouragement help make Tall Trees Glade such a warm and happy place to be.

Well done to everyone involved — the displays look absolutely wonderful.
