We had a little change of pace here at Penhurst Gardens flower arranging session last week! 🌸

As well as creating their beautiful floral arrangements, our residents took on an extra challenge: a still life sketch of their flowers afterwards. And they certainly β€˜rose’ to the challenge! 🌹🎨

We were delighted to see so many wonderful drawings capturing the beauty of their arrangements. A lovely afternoon of creativity, concentration and a little floral inspiration! πŸ’

πŸ§©πŸ’š Sharing the joy, one puzzle at a time! πŸ’šπŸ§©

During her recent visit to Penhurst Gardens, the lovely Activities and Wellbeing Coordinator, Louie, from our sister home Cotswold Gate Care Home, Burford, picked up a brand-new puzzle to take back for the residents in Burford to enjoy. 🧩😊

This is all part of our Porthaven Puzzle Exchange, a wonderful initiative that brings our homes together through the simple joy of puzzles. Once a puzzle has been enjoyed at one home, it can be passed on to another, giving it a new lease of life and bringing smiles to even more residents. πŸ’•πŸ‘

Not only does our puzzle exchanges create opportunities for shared enjoyment, connection and meaningful activities, but it’s also a lovely way to be more environmentally friendly by reusing and sharing rather than buying new puzzles for every home. πŸŒβ™»οΈ

We love seeing our Porthaven community sharing a little bit of joy between homes! We hope the residents at Cotswold Gate have lots of fun putting their new puzzle together. πŸ₯°πŸ§©

A journey into the Rainforest!πŸŒ΄πŸ¦œπŸ’πŸŒΏ

This week, we were delighted to enjoy a fascinating and educational talk from Liz at In2Cultures, who took us on an exciting journey into the incredible world of rainforests. πŸŒŽπŸ’š

Liz taught us all about the impact of deforestation and why protecting these precious environments is so important. We discovered more about the amazing plants and animals that call the Rainforest home, and learned about the vital role their habitats play in our world. πŸ¦‹πŸ

We also had the opportunity to see and explore some wonderful items that Liz brought along, including beautiful fabrics, woven baskets and Kapok. It was fantastic to have these fascinating materials to see and touch, helping to bring everything we were learning to life.

We had a brilliant time learning so much and would like to say a huge thank you to Liz and In2Cultures for such an engaging and memorable session! πŸ’š

Today marked a very special milestone as we welcomed our first gathering named Poppies and Porcelain, a new community group created in collaboration with our wonderful sister home, Cotswold Gate Care Home, Burford.

The idea behind Poppies & Porcelain is simple but meaningful: to bring together veterans from our homes over a shared lunch, creating new friendships, strengthening our community and providing an opportunity to celebrate and support the veterans who live in our homes. ❀️

Our first get-together took place here at Penhurst Gardens Care Home, where our veterans enjoyed a special lunch together in our Private Dining Room. And, with it being Bacon Lovers Day, our fantastic kitchen team certainly embraced the theme! πŸ₯“

On the menu was a delicious Bacon and Caesar Salad followed by freshly made BLTs – the perfect way to get our new group off to a tasty start! πŸ₯ͺ

It was wonderful to see conversations flowing, stories being shared and friendships beginning to grow. We’re already looking forward to our next Poppies and Porcelain gathering at Cotswold Gate Care Home and all the special moments still to come. 🌺
