Some of life’s greatest joys are found in the simplest moments.

This week, one of our wonderful carers alongside our CEO, spent the afternoon accompanying our incredible 102-year-old client on a visit to the garden centre; a place that’s always held a special place in her heart. Surrounded by beautiful blooms, vibrant colours and the familiar scent of fresh flowers, it was a chance to reconnect with a lifelong passion for gardening. 🌺

“Hi, my name is Ola. I was a work experience student at Chislehurst Healthcare and today was my last day. Throughout the week I got to shadow many of the departments at CHC, including compliance, recruitment… but my personal favourite was actually going to the clients and being face-to-face with them, with the carers. That was my highlight of the week.

“Today I spent the day with the CEO, Elle. She invited me to a global women’s summit at the Novotel in Hammersmith. I got to see how the business world works in terms of networking and meeting people, making connections but also education about what business is like and how woman in the business industry manage with mental heath. That really ties in well with my future degree in psychology. I got to see the spirituality, the mindfulness, the different retreat options available for women in business so they can calm down. And it was just an incredible experience. I’m really glad I got to do it” - Ola

☀️ A Gentle Reminder During the Heatwave ☀️

With temperatures continuing to rise, we’d like to encourage our older friends, family members and neighbours to take a little extra care.

Staying cool doesn’t need to be complicated, but it does make a real difference.

• Keep a glass or bottle of water close by and drink regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
• Keep your home comfortably cool by closing curtains or blinds during the warmest hours of the day.
• Choose light, breathable clothing and avoid going out during the hottest part of the afternoon where possible.
• Enjoy lighter meals and fresh fruit, which can help with hydration.
• A cool shower or a damp flannel on your neck and wrists can provide welcome relief.

Perhaps the most important reminder of all is to check in on those around you. A simple phone call, a knock at the door, or an invitation for a cool drink can mean far more than we realise.

If you or someone you know begins to feel unusually dizzy, weak, confused or unwell, move to a cool place, sip water if they are able, and seek medical advice. If symptoms become severe, call 999 immediately.

“Hi, Chislehurst Healthcare here. Just saying hope you’re enjoying the really nice hot weather, which is unusual for the British. But we’re making the most of it!
However we really must keep hydrated, lots of water! We’re trying to encourage our clients to drink, and those that won’t drink, we’re encouraging them to eat ice cream, jellies and any sort of fluid we can; just to keep their levels up so they remain hydrated and cool of course. Fans and windows are also important! So we’re opening windows while we’re there, closing curtains… all of this advice goes to everybody. ✨ A Belated Father’s Day Tribute ✨

We may be a little late, but one thing is certain. Fathers are never forgotten.

After all, dads have spent a lifetime reminding us where we left our keys, to check our oil and that turning the heating up is not the answer. It seems only fitting that they would forgive us for being a few days behind.

So, on that note, we’d like to wish a very Happy Belated Father’s Day to all the wonderful fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers and father figures who have shaped lives with their wisdom, humour, strength and unwavering support.

At Chislehurst Healthcare, we are privileged to know many remarkable gentlemen whose stories, achievements and devotion to their families continue to inspire us every day.
