The Weather hasn't been very nice up North this week so we have spent lots of time playing games. the residents on all the units are very competitive and enjoy all of the games we play especially higher or lower card game and making words from a longer word. Any ideas for more games we could play will be gratefully received

We had a great session with Smile through Sport this week the ladies and gents from downstairs really enjoyed their exercises and got very competitive as usual. the cheers could be heard throughout the home when they scored. we always look forward to these visits and cant wait for the next one in September

Marton care homes spends time in August celebrating our heroes and they raise money for the Alzheimer's society as part of these celebrations, Part one of the celebrations at Wansbeck was our party with local singer John Doonan and a good old fashioned Buffet to follow. everyone had a great time with lots of smiles, dancing singing and eating with a snaky shandy and non alcoholic prosecco to wash it all down with. We have another event on the 28th with our monthly coffee morning everyone welcome to come along. we have a QR code located in the main Foyer if anyone would like to donate to the Alzheimer's society

We have had some lovely weather in the last few days so we have spent a lot of time in the garden , some of the resident have bene paining the garden ornaments to refresh them. Most of our reminiscing and chatting happens in the garden where we have a Alexa playing and remembering songs and singers from years gone by. we had a sing along to The Bay city Rollers, Showaddywaddy. Queen, the Beatles and loads more

Some of our ladies wanted to go out to the bingo so Linda our well being lead rang round and found a bingo night not to far from the home at Bomersund welfare club.
The ladies went last Thursday and had a brilliant time and even shouted for a couple of lines and a full house. They are looking forward to going again soon., we think this may be a new regular event

Julys employee of Month is our care assistant Deb who is very camera shy so we have a photo of her gifts. Staff voted for Deb for being kind, friendly and a great team player who takes pride in her work and is always willing to pick up shifts when needed she has a bubbly personality and is always attentive to our residents. well done Deb

we had our Summer Fair on Saturday 1st Aug and it was a great success with only a few hiccups everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and we raised a wonderful 907.90 for the residents fund. All prizes have been claimed and we want to thank everyone who donated hampers, number generator prizes, tombola prizes, cakes etc to us. we also want to thank the staff that helped on the day and of course everyone that attended and spent their money we are very grateful for you continued support of the Home and last but not least the wonderful Darren Foster for entertaining all afternoon. it wouldn't be the fair without him

It was the lovely ladies on Seaview turn to get put through their paces with the lovely Gareth from Smile through Sport. They enjoyed the session and were still talking about it hours later. we look forward to next months visit.
