Yesterday I received my certificate for grief and bereavement foundation training and it made me stop and realise why I am doing all of this, so last night we slowed down the baking session for a moment and I realised......
Healing doesn't always happen through words or time and we are always healing from something happening in our lives weather it be something changing in our lives, people changing in our lives, moving on from something we have always known to be the norm, the kids growing up and us having to fill that void. There is always something in our lives that just having support and someone to listen to us can make such a difference.
Completing my bereavement training has taught me many things, but perhaps the biggest lesson is that people don't need us to take their pain away. We can't.
What they need is to know they don't have to carry it alone.
I've always believed that healing happens in the little moments.
Over a brew.Whilst baking together.Sharing a laugh you didn't expect.Sitting in silence with someone who simply understands.
That's exactly what Let's "Talk" Baking has always been about.
It was never just about baking.
It's about creating a space where there is no pressure to be okay. Where tears are just as welcome as smiles. Where memories can be shared, names can be spoken, and people can be exactly who they are that day.
Because grief isn't something to get over, it's something that we are always working through.
It's something we slowly learn to carry, and even though the weight never completely disappears, somehow we grow stronger around it.
As I begin this next part of my journey, I feel incredibly honoured to support people living with grief and loss. Not because I have all the answers, but because I've learnt that the greatest gift we can offer is our presence, compassion and willingness to simply be there.
If my training has reinforced one thing, it's this...
Nobody should ever feel they have to grieve alone.
So whether you come to bake, to chat, to remember someone you love, or simply to enjoy being around people who understand, you'll always be welcome.
The kettle will be on.The mixing bowls will be ready. And there will always be a place for you at the table.
With love,
