I still remember making that phone call. ❤️

Fourteen years ago, Henry had been through a long labour, a forceps birth, and we were struggling with feeding. Like so many new mums, I just wanted to know I was doing the right thing.

I remember ringing Churchdown Osteopaths to book him in. The receptionist asked, “What’s your baby’s date of birth?” and I had one of those surreal moments where I realised I was actually someone’s mum. It’s funny how those little moments stay with you.

What stayed with me even more was the calm reassurance I felt from the moment we walked through the door. Being cared for by people with so much experience meant the world at a time when everything felt so new and overwhelming.

I never imagined that years later I’d be working there too.

People often ask me where I’d recommend taking their baby, and I never hesitate to recommend Churchdown.

For over 45 years, Clive, Liz and the team have been dedicated to caring for babies and supporting families. Now, with Anna’s experience as a midwife, lactation consultant and tongue-tie practitioner, that support for new parents is even stronger.

I feel incredibly privileged to have had the opportunity to work here for the past five years, learning from such an experienced and dedicated team. My own experience as a new mum helped shape the osteopath I’ve become today, and it’s an honour to now support other families in the same place that once supported mine.

Sometimes life comes full circle in the most unexpected ways. 🤍

I’m done with mums believing they just have to put up with pain, weakness or putting themselves last after having a baby.

My mission is to create the care I wish I’d had.

Because when mums are cared for, families thrive. ❤️

If this resonates with you, I’d love to hear your experience.

Nobody really prepares you for how your C-section scar might feel.

We often hear about the operation itself, but not about what recovery can actually feel like afterwards.

Women tell me things like:
• “It still feels numb.”
• “It pulls when I stand up.”
• “I’m scared to touch it.”
• “It doesn’t feel like part of me.”

These experiences are incredibly common, but that doesn’t mean you have to simply live with them.

Once your wound has fully healed, gentle scar rehabilitation, movement and hands-on treatment can often help improve comfort, mobility and confidence.

Your scar tells the story of something extraordinary. It deserves care too. ❤️

Save this post so you can come back to it later, or share it with someone who might need to hear it.

Hello, I’m Suzy 👋

I’m an osteopath with a special interest in women’s health, pregnancy and postnatal recovery.

After the birth of my eldest son, I remember lying in hospital exhausted after a long labour, forceps delivery and a difficult start to feeding.

I knew my baby would be booked in for treatment.

What never crossed my mind was that I might need support too.

That experience helped shape the way I work today.

I created Gloucester Postnatal Care because I believe mothers deserve care, support and understanding as they recover from pregnancy and birth.

I offer:
🌿 Pregnancy osteopathy
🌿 Postnatal recovery support
🌿 Pelvic health osteopathy
🌿 Mummy MOT assessments
🌿 Mother & baby appointments
🌿 General osteopathic care

Gloucester mums 👋

Just because something is common after having a baby... doesn't mean you have to just put up with it 🤍

So many women are told symptoms like leaking, pelvic heaviness, back pain or feeling disconnected from their body are simply "part of motherhood."

But often these symptoms can improve with the right support.

Pregnancy and birth change so much through the body - breathing, posture, pelvic floor function, core control and even how our nervous system responds to stress.

You deserve support and recovery too✨

A lot of the women I see are a few months (or sometimes years) after having a baby and still feel like something isn’t quite right.

That might be:
– pelvic heaviness or a dragging feeling
– leaking or changes in bladder control
– C-section scar tightness or discomfort
– feeling weak or unstable
– ongoing aches and pains
– or just a sense that your body hasn’t fully recovered

Often they’ve been told this is just something to live with.

But in many cases, there’s more we can do to support your recovery.

You don’t have to just put up with it 🤍

Hi, I’m Suzy 🤍

I’m an osteopath with a particular focus on women’s health, including postnatal recovery and pelvic health.

A lot of the women I see tell me they don’t quite feel like themselves after having a baby — whether that’s ongoing discomfort, pelvic symptoms, or just a sense that their body hasn’t fully recovered.

It’s really common, but it doesn’t mean you have to just put up with it.

My approach is calm, unhurried, and centred around really listening — creating a space where you can talk openly and feel supported, as well as working hands-on to help your body recover more comfortably.

I’m based in Churchdown, Gloucester, and offer appointments locally.

If you’re not sure whether something is “normal” or worth getting checked, you’re very welcome to get in touch 🤍
