High blood pressure often has no symptoms.

If you are 40 or over, do not have diagnosed high blood pressure and have not had a blood pressure check in the last five years, you may be eligible for a free check at a participating NHS pharmacy.

Search the NHS website for “free blood pressure checks” to find one nearby.

Do you know your blood pressure?

High blood pressure usually has no symptoms. The only way to know is to check.

NHS Gloucestershire advises adults aged over 40 to have their blood pressure checked at least every five years.

If you are 40 or over, do not already have high blood pressure and have not had a professional check during the past six months, you may be eligible for a free check at a participating pharmacy:

https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/pharmacies/find-a-pharmacy-that-offers-free-blood-pressure-checks/

Already monitoring at home, or has CHG asked you to send us readings? Use our blood-pressure review form:

https://cirencesterhealthgroup.co.uk/form/blood-pressure-review/

Please do not change your medication because of a single reading. Seek clinical advice if you are concerned about a result or feel unwell.

Find out about the blood pressure check service, including who can use it.

Back to school with asthma?

A few checks now can help children and young people stay well as the new term begins:

• Make sure their written asthma action plan is up to date, school has a copy, and the inhaler and spacer required by their plan are available.

• Check that they understand how to use their inhaler correctly and are following their prescribed plan.

• Arrange their yearly asthma review if it is due, and a review after any asthma attack.

• Think about triggers and air quality.

If their asthma seems less controlled than usual, or their review is due, contact CHG:

https://cirencesterhealthgroup.co.uk/contact-us

Follow their asthma action plan if symptoms start. Call 999 if they are having severe difficulty breathing.

Finished Year 13 or starting university this autumn?

A new, time-limited NHS MenB vaccination offer is now open.

You may be eligible if you:

• were born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008, whether or not you are going to university

• were born on or after 21 July 2001 and are starting university for the first time this autumn

• were born on or after 21 July 2001 and are starting as a residential student at an eligible further education college for the first time this autumn

You need two doses at least four weeks apart, so start now.

MenACWY is a different vaccine and does not protect against MenB. Eligible young people should still have MenB even if they received MenACWY at school.

Check your eligibility and book through the NHS:

https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/vaccination-and-booking-services/book-a-menb-vaccination-appointment/

You can also call 119 for booking help.

Book, change or cancel a MenB vaccination appointment online.
