Here’s the absolute BS you get fed when you’re told “everything is normal”…
“Your blood sugar is normal.”
When they have only tested fasting glucose (a snapshot) and your HbA1c (which can look perfectly average, regardless of all those crashes after meals and the insulin resistance brewing in the background).
“Your hormones are normal.”
What hormones, doc? That’s a very broad statement. Have you tested testosterone, DHEA, insulin? Are you trying to test my oestrogen and progesterone in the middle of the hormonal chaos that is perimenopause?? Ok I’ll just carry on feeling like a wired sack of s**t then.
“Your B12 is normal.”
When they only tested serum B12, but the gold standard for B12 deficiency is methylmalonic acid. And yes low B12 can be why you feel tired ALL the fcking time (especially if you have poor methylation - shoot me a quick DM if you want to know how I find this out for clients without expensive genetic testing)
“Your s**t 💩 was normal.”
When you sent in a luminous green stool sample and have had intermittent diarrhoea for 3 months (the NHS testing is about as sensitive as looking at your s**t with your kid’s toy ‘microscope’).
“Your thyroid is normal.”
This old classic… when they have only run your TSH which tells you sweet FA about your thyroid function. Meanwhile your antibodies are through the roof, you gained a mysterious 2 stone and your eyebrows have gone AWOL.
Yup everything is normal and I feel fcking fabulous, thanks Doc! 🙄
