📣 Health & Welfare Deputyships 📣

This is a really important judgement that was released yesterday. Looking forward to reading further information once it becomes available. We have a number of parents that have been told they shouldn’t even bother applying, so please be sure to share the information, things look to have changed!

Supporting local, one glass bottle at a time! 🥛✨
Look at this absolute superstar out on a milk run! One of our brilliant residential young people has been putting their independent living skills into practice today by popping out to grab some fresh milk from the Llaeth Preseli Milk & Gelato vending machine.
For us at Skybound, community involvement is a huge part of what we do. It’s so much more than just a quick trip out—it’s about the young people we support actively participating in the world around them, building confidence, and learning invaluable real-world skills. 🌟
And what better way to do that than by supporting fantastic local businesses right on our doorstep? Shopping local keeps our community thriving and teaches our young people the importance of connecting with their neighbours. It's a proper win-win! 🙌❤️

Why we love what we do!
There is nothing quite like the feeling of watching a young person build the confidence to try something new, communicate independently, or smash a goal they've been working so hard towards.
Our staff have been reflecting on some of their favourite breakthrough moments lately, from pet care victories to magical park trips and deep bonds of trust. These snippets are a beautiful reminder that with the right support, patience, and a whole lot of heart, our young people can achieve amazing things. 🌈✨

Reading and sharing stories is fundamental. 📖❤️
For our young people, sharing a book is a wonderful way to learn and practice valuable relaxation and leisure skills. Rather than focusing on abstract concepts or faraway places, we use books as a calming, present-moment activity. It’s all about the tactile feel of the pages, the soothing rhythm of a familiar voice, and the predictable comfort of a favourite picture book.
Moments like this highlight the real power of shared attention, regulating energy, and simply enjoying a peaceful hobby together. Our staff love finding creative, sensory ways to connect and support our young people to thrive every single day. 🌟

Ever wondered what an FBA actually is? 🧠✨
At Skybound, we’re all about looking at the bigger picture. A Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA) isn’t about just ticking boxes—it’s about truly understanding the ‘why’ behind behaviours that challenge.
Whether it’s at home, school, work, or out and about in the community, an FBA helps us piece together the puzzle. By looking at a person’s unique environment, learning history, strengths, and skills, we can figure out the best way to offer meaningful, person-centred support. 🌱
As recommended by the NICE guidelines, it’s a brilliant first step toward unlocking someone's full potential and helping them thrive.

Meet Pistachio and Fudge, the absolute sweetest new additions to our care farm! 🥰
These lovely little chaps are already settling in brilliantly and, as you can see, are quite partial to a spot of lunch—whether they're tucking into a fresh pile of leafy greens or having a cheeky nibble on a banana. 🍌🥬
The young people we support will be taking a lead role in looking after them, helping to build confidence with animals. We already know these two are going to be absolute superstars at helping everyone feel comfortable and calm around our furry friends.
Pop a 💚 in the comments to give Pistachio and Fudge a proper warm welcome to the farm! 👇

Today is a pinch me day! We started with a 6km walk, where Dan was awesome then we went for lunch in a little outdoor cafe in Duras that has quickly become Dan’s favourite. After lunch, it was pool time, where he couldn’t contain his laughter and now we’ve walked around a night market (it was far too busy for us to stop) but we then headed to a quieter town to have a drink.

Today is one of those days where everything has worked out amazingly, yes we’ve had limitations, yes we’ve had 2 of us dedicated to Dan, yes we’ve needed behaviour science, but today feels as close to ‘typical’ as we could ever get due to his severe learning disabilities and autism. Thanks to wait programmes, walking programmes, accepting no programmes we can do this. This is the third year we’ve brought Dan here for his holiday and each year we can see progress. We are more relaxed, Dan is more relaxed, because his coping skills keep improving. Keep believing, keep working hard, keep trying, in Dan’s last year in his 20s, he is still learning, growing and developing. This area of France is such a delight for us, so quiet, most people speak some English so with my smattering of French too, we can get by. This holiday is exhausting, but so worth it 🥰
