Recently, I had the privilege and honour of delivering a service for a lovely family who sadly lost both their mother and father just six weeks apart. Being trusted to guide and support them through such a difficult time was truly humbling.
One thing that became very apparent to me during this experience was that the family came directly to me to deliver the eulogy — not through the funeral director. Many people don’t realise that celebrants work independently and are not employed by funeral directors.
During times of grief, families may not know that they absolutely have the choice to select their own celebrant — someone they feel comfortable with and connected to. If you already have a celebrant in mind, you can simply let the funeral director know.
It’s always an honour to help families create a personal, meaningful farewell for their loved ones.
