** IMPORTANT PATIENT NOTICE ***
NHS England are writing to selected patients to check that we hold the correct residential address for you as eligibility to remain as a patient of the practice.

Please DO NOT ignore this letter 📩. This is NOT a scam and we will support you with this if you need it.

You are asked to confirm your details using specific details in that letter. If you do not respond with 30 days, they will remove you from our patient list, and you will no longer be registered here at The Crescent Surgery.

We have no control over this process and this will delay any NHS care you receive from us and may cause issue with hospital appointments or letters if you ignore it.

Please check with elderly relatives, friends and your family members to ensure they respond if they receive a letter.

🍦 STAY SAFE IN THE BLACKPOOL HEAT! 🏖️
The Met Office has issued an Amber Extreme Heat Warning for Blackpool, with temperatures set to soar way above 30°C alongside high humidity. While it is hot both day and night, high temperatures mean we need to take extra care to avoid heat-related issues. Here is how to stay safe:
☀️ HOW TO PREPARE YOURSELF
• Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Avoid excess alcohol, caffeine, and hot drinks.
• Beat the Peak: Stay in the shade or indoors during the hottest hours between 11am and 3pm.
• Cover Up: Dress in lightweight, loose clothing and never forget a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and SPF 30+ sunscreen.
• Keep Spaces Cool: Close your curtains and windows on sun-facing rooms during the peak daylight hours.
⚠️ SIGNS TO LOOK OUT FOR
Watch out for yourself and those around you for signs of heat exhaustion:
• Dizziness, confusion, or a intense headache
• Heavy sweating and pale, clammy skin
• Loss of appetite or feeling sick
• Fast breathing or pulse
If someone does not cool down after 30 minutes in the shade with water, seek medical help.
❤️ LOOK OUT FOR OTHERS
• Check on vulnerable family, friends, and isolated neighbours—especially older adults, infants, and those with long-term health conditions who struggle to regulate their temperature.
• Keep pets off hot pavements and walk them only during the cooler early morning or late evening hours. See less

Do you know the signs of Type 1 Diabetes?
We call them the 4 Ts. If you or your child are weeing more often, constantly thirsty, more tired than usual, or losing weight for no reason, it could be a symptom of type 1 diabetes.
If left undiagnosed, type 1 diabetes can be fatal.
If you are experiencing any of the 4 T's, ask your doctor for a test immediately.

Dear Patient,

Your GP practice is one of a group of local practices that are coming together to form a federation of local practices in Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre.

This partnership will allow our practices to work together more effectively — sharing resources, offering more services locally and having a stronger voice in decisions about healthcare in our community.

It will not change your registration with your current GP practice, and your relationship with your own practice will continue as it is today.

Before we decide what this federation should focus on and how it should work, we want to hear from the people who matter most: our patients.

This short survey asks for your honest views about what matters to you about your GP care — what you value most, what you would never want to change and what could be better.

There are no right or wrong answers. Every response will be read and will help shape what this partnership stands for and what it commits to.

The survey takes around 5–8 minutes to complete.

Your responses are anonymous.

They will be analysed alongside the views of GPs, Practice Managers and other health partners, and a summary of what patients told us will be shared with Patient Participation Groups after the analysis is complete.

Thank you for taking the time to have your say. See less

The HPV vaccine helps protect against several cancers, including cervical cancer, as well as cancers of the mouth, throat and ge****ls.
It’s offered to boys and girls in school to help protect them later in life.
The vaccine does not protect against all HPV types, so attending cervical screening when invited is still important.

March is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
It’s important to know the signs and symptoms – especially as risk increases with age. Most cases develop in men aged 50 or older and prostate cancer is more common in Black men.
Prostate cancer often develops slowly, so there may be no symptoms for many years.
Early diagnosis and treatment can save lives.
