Summer reminder during times of heat waves: ☀️
If you're taking antidepressants, hot weather can affect you differently. Some antidepressants can make it harder for your body to regulate temperature or increase sweating, which may raise the risk of overheating.
How to help this:
• Stay hydrated. 💦
• Avoid prolonged time in direct sun during the hottest part of the day. 🌞
• Wear light clothing, and take breaks somewhere cool.😎
☀️ Heat doesn't just affect your body—it can affect your mind too. When temperatures rise, you might notice you're feeling more irritable, anxious, overwhelmed, tired, or finding it harder to concentrate. If you're already struggling with a mental health condition, hot weather can sometimes make symptoms feel more intense.
Be kind to yourself on hot days: ☀️
• Stay hydrated. 💧
• Keep your environment as cool as you can. 🧊
• Eat regular, light meals. 🥗
• Prioritise rest and sleep. 😴
• If you're exercising, choose cooler times of the day.🚶
💙 Check in with yourself and others.
Looking after your mental health is just as important as looking after your physical health, especially during periods of extreme heat.
