Anne Geraldine Savage
15 November 1948 - 13 May 2026
Aged 77 Years
Anne Geraldine Savage, known with love and affection to all as Angie, passed away peacefully on 13 May 2026 at the age of 77. Born on 15 November 1948, Angie’s life was one centred around family, love, resilience, and the simple joys that brought happiness to those around her.
Raised in the Albion Street area of Coatbridge, Angie was brought up by her beloved gran, Sarah O’Brien, whose care and guidance helped shape the warm and devoted woman she would become. She shared a close bond with her sister Jean, who sadly predeceased her, and carried those family connections close to her heart throughout her life.
Angie attended St Patrick’s Primary and later St Patrick’s High School, where she embraced the aspects of school life that mattered most to her. Even from a young age, she possessed a caring nature, a sociable spirit, and a warmth that drew people towards her.
On 11 July 1970, Angie married Jim McGinty, and although the couple later separated, they remained united in the love and pride they shared for their daughters, Carol-Anne, Shona, Lisa, and Lynn. Family was always at the very centre of Angie’s world, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly to those she loved. Whether offering guidance, comfort, support, or simply being there when she was needed most, Angie’s presence brought reassurance, strength, and unconditional love to her family throughout the years.
Later in life, Angie met Charles Savage, and together they found happiness, companionship, and love. As their relationship blossomed, the couple married on 16 July 2004 at the Airdrie Registrars Office before celebrating at Drumpellier Golf Club. Through their marriage, Angie also became a caring and supportive stepmother to Amanda, Anthony, and Martin, embracing them warmly as part of the family circle.
Her family continued to grow over the years, and Angie was proud to welcome Gordon, Robert, Chris, Sarah and Ian into the family. In more recent years, her greatest joy came in her role as a grandmother to Hannah, Emma, Stephen, Jack, Robbie, Kirstyn, Lauryn, and Elle, and as a great grandmother to Lewis, Grace, Sophia, Sonny, Craig, and Orla. These younger generations brought immense happiness into Angie’s life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Angie found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed holidays to Benidorm, wider travels to Spain and Canada, and loved going out for meals with family and friends. At home, she enjoyed relaxing with some of her favourite television programmes, including Murder, She Wrote, Heartbeat, and Downton Abbey, while films such as Love Actuallyand Paddington always brought her particular enjoyment.
She also adored her tortoiseshell cat, Tullulah, whose wild and spirited personality became well known to all who visited. Much like Angie herself, Tullulah brought character, warmth, and a little unpredictability into the home.
Angie will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the pride she took in her family, and the warmth and kindness she showed to others throughout her life. Her memory will live on in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the generations of family who carry her love forward.
A Celebration of Life Service for Angie will take place on Wednesday 27 May at Coats Funeral Home 11am, thereafter a committal ceremony will be held at Holytown Crematorium.
The family warmly invite all who knew and loved Angie to return with them thereafter to Brasserie 24 for a further opportunity to remember and celebrate her life.
