🌑 TONIGHT’S SOLAR ECLIPSE | A MOMENT TO PAUSE 🦋
There is something a bit special happening in our skies this evening.
The Moon will move between the Earth and the Sun, creating a solar eclipse. Here in the UK we won’t experience totality, but much of the Sun will disappear from view for a short while.
And whether you follow the spiritual meaning of eclipses or simply appreciate the wonder of nature, I think there is something beautiful in the symbolism.
Light temporarily hidden, but never gone.
Eclipses have long been associated with endings, beginnings and moments of transition.
So rather than feeling that you need to do anything elaborate tonight, maybe, simply use it as an invitation to become still.
To ground yourself.
To notice what has been taking too much of your energy.
To acknowledge what you may have outgrown.
And to ask yourself:
What am I ready to leave behind, and what would I like to make space for instead?
🌑 A simple eclipse practice
If you can, spend a few moments outside or beside an open window.
Place both feet firmly on the ground and take three slow, steady breaths.
Feel the earth beneath you.
Imagine roots gently extending down from the soles of your feet, travelling deep into the earth beneath you.
With every exhale, allow yourself to soften and release any tension, busyness or energy that doesn’t need to come with you into this moment.
With every inhale, imagine drawing up a sense of steadiness, safety and calm.
You might simply repeat:
I am here.
I am grounded.
I am present.
Then find somewhere quiet and light a candle.
Place one hand over your heart and one over your solar plexus.
Quietly ask yourself:
What am I ready to release?
Don’t force an answer. Just notice what comes.
Write it down.
Then ask:
What am I ready to welcome more of into my life?
Choose one word to represent it.
Peace.
Freedom.
Trust.
Joy.
Courage.
Abundance.
Rest.
Whatever feels right for you.
Close your eyes for a few moments and imagine carrying that feeling forward with you.
And when you’re ready, simply say:
I release what no longer needs to travel with me.
I make space for what is ready to emerge.
I trust the next chapter as it unfolds.
Then blow out your candle and let that be enough. 🦋
Sometimes the most powerful rituals are the simplest ones.
And a little reminder if you’re watching the eclipse itself: never look directly at the Sun. Ordinary sunglasses aren’t enough. Use proper eclipse glasses or a safe indirect viewing method.
