Wellness is Quiet.

Sometimes the greatest act of self-care isn't adding something new to your routine—it's stepping away.

Time with family. Long conversations without distractions. A walk without your phone. An afternoon where nothing needs to be achieved.

When we disconnect from screens, endless notifications, and the pressure to keep up, something remarkable happens. The constant mental noise begins to soften. We become more present, more grounded, and more connected to what truly matters.

A week away from it all, on holiday with my tribe, has done just that for me...

Wellness isn't always found by trying to keep up with endless social media trends. Often, it's found in the quiet moments that remind us who we are beneath the busyness.

Taking a break isn't falling behind. It's creating the space your mind and body need to reset, decompress, and refocus with clarity and intention.

This week has given me time to think, and I'm so excited for the coming weeks and months at Amethyst, as we collectively grow and evolve with intention and most of all with client focus at the forefront of everything we do.

Our Lymphatic System plays a vital role in the body, by cleansing and filtering excess fluid and defending the body against harmful cells and infection. While the cardiovascular system moves blood with the help of the heart, the lymphatic system quietly moves fluid through tissues, relying largely on movement, breathing, and muscle contractions.

The lymphatic system acts like a network of streams and rivers, collecting excess fluid, filtering it, and returning it to the circulation.
Along the way, it carries immune cells that monitor for infection, injury, and abnormal cells.

When this flow is healthy, tissues tend to remain well hydrated, waste products are removed efficiently, and immune surveillance functions effectively.

HOWEVER with many lifestyle factors and modern day stresses, the Lymphatic System can slow, become more sluggish and lypmh can stagnate like a dirty canal.

The body provides signs of this sluggishness through many physical symptoms:

• Bloating/water retention
• Difficulty losing weight
• Fatigue
• Constipation
• Slow wound healing
• Acne and skin conditions
• Sinus congestion/infection
• Brain fog
• Puffiness in the face and eyes
• Swollen lymph nodes
• Inflammatory conditions

Changes you can make to improve your Lymphatic system:

• Drink around 2 litres on water each day (tea and coffee don't count here I'm afraid!)
• Cut down on tea, coffee and replace with herbal tea
• Limit your alcohol intake
• Avoid heavily processed foods
• Gentle regular movement daily. You don't have to do a hard gym session to feel the benefits! Walking, cycling, swimming, yoga or pilates
• Introduce electrolytes daily
• Reduce stress levels (high cortisol massively impacts how the body functions, particularly the lymphatic system)
• Regular dry skin brushing

What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage, and how can it help you?

The treatment itself is a gentle, hands on technique using light but purposeful stroking moves which assist the movement of lymph throughout the body to enable it to drain more effectiveley before returning to the blood stream.

it can support the body by reducing fluid retention, improving circulation, enhancing contouring results and encouraging the natural flow of the lymphatic system — but what I’ve come to truly appreciate is the deeper impact it can have emotionally and energetically too.

Our lymphatic system plays such a vital role in overall wellbeing, working closely alongside the fascia and nervous system. When fascia becomes tight or the nervous system is constantly in a state of stress, the body can begin to hold tension, stagnation and inflammation. Gentle, intentional touch helps encourage movement not just physically, but emotionally too — creating space for release, regulation and reconnection within ourselves.

For me, treatments are never just about the visible results. They are about creating a safe space where clients feel supported, nurtured and able to let go. The connection between therapist and client is such an important part of the process. Sometimes the body needs more than treatment — it needs care, safety and presence.

Following the treatment you can instantly feel the benefits! You will often feel:

• Mentally lighter (often people feel like a weight has been lifted off their shoulders)
• Less puffy
• Calm, yet energised
• Clearer (mentally as well as physically)
• More positive

Today was something truly special, and I must admit, there was a moment where I actually felt a little emotional...

We welcomed our lovely ladies into our introductory lymphatic drainage event, and from the moment they walked through the door, our intention was for them to feel safe, nurtured, relaxed, and completely cared for. Every detail of the space was thoughtfully created to bring a sense of calm and comfort, and seeing it all come together was simply beautiful.

Lymphatic drainage offers so much more than physical benefits like reducing fluid retention and helping the body gently detoxify. It is one of the most nurturing and soothing treatments I have ever had the privilege of providing. It creates space for the body to soften, release, and let go… not only physically, but emotionally too.

I honestly feel like I’ve stepped into a whole new chapter as a therapist. I never imagined I could feel more passionate about my work, but this journey feels transformative in so many ways, and I am so excited for what’s ahead 🥹💓

The salon felt absolutely beautiful today, and Emily and I have loved creating this special experience for our valued ladies. Thank you so much to everyone who attended — our hearts are so full, and we feel truly blessed.
