Brian recently visited the Colchester Airborne Soldier Statue—a particularly meaningful visit as he served in the Independent Parachute Brigade for many years.
Standing in full parachute kit at the Colchester Garrison, the soldier represents a proud military heritage that holds special meaning for Brian.
It was lovely to share this moment with Brian and celebrate an important part of his life. ❤️
Many thanks to Kevin for helping to arrange the visit.

Just before the weather turned autumnal, we enjoyed harvesting some of the vegetables from our garden.🫜🥕🌽
The exceptionally hot weather made growing conditions challenging this year, but we still managed to gather a respectable harvest. Our runner beans, tomatoes, and peppers were the stars of the show, although unfortunately, the fruit was a little disappointing.
Despite the challenges, it was lovely to see the results of everyone’s hard work—and there is nothing quite like enjoying produce grown in your own garden 🥬🫑🥒

🌸 A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Open Garden Day at Stanway Green Lodge! 🌿

We were also delighted to welcome so many of the healthcare professionals who support our home. It was lovely to see them relaxing and enjoying a well-deserved cup of tea and a slice of cake!

Everyone had a wonderful time at our cheese and w**e tasting afternoon! We tasted about ten delicious cheeses, paired with red and white w**e and a wonderful selection of pickles and chutneys. 🍇🥒
After several enjoyable hours of tasting, sipping and careful deliberation, we finally reached a decision…
🏆 The outright winner was the perfect marriage of Stilton and a glass of red w**e! 🍷🧀
Absolutely delicious—and an afternoon thoroughly enjoyed by everyone! 😋👏

What an absolutely fantastic afternoon we had at our 70s-themed party! 🕺💃🎶
The event was a huge success, filled with fun, laughter, games, singing and plenty of dancing. It was wonderful to see so many people dressed in their fabulous 70s outfits, creating a truly groovy atmosphere! 🌈🪩👖
Even more wonderfully, we raised an incredible £700 for the East Suffolk & North Essex Cancer Wellbeing and Information Centres! 💷💜
A huge thank you to everyone who attended, supported the event, and joined in the fun. We would also like to thank Morven Hurding and Mike Locke, who represented the Centre and shared some very touching words with us. 💐
We were delighted to welcome Nichola Whymark, who visited the home to tell us more about the Centre’s valuable work and collect the funds raised. 🤝💜
Peace, love and a huge thank you to you all! ☮️✌️🌼

What a lovely afternoon we had when the children from Gosbecks Primary School came to visit us! 🥰👧🧒

There were lots of smiles, laughter and wonderful conversations as the children told us all about their recent school trip to Maldon and shared what they have been getting up to at school. It was so lovely to see everyone chatting away and enjoying each other’s company. 💕💬

We then had some fun with a game of “Would You Rather...?” 🤔😂

Would you rather go for a bike ride 🚲 or have a picnic 🧺?
Would you rather sing a song 🎶 or dance 💃?

Some choices were easier than others, and there were certainly some interesting answers! It was great fun hearing everyone's reasons and seeing our residents and the children getting involved together.

And, of course, after all that hard thinking and chatting, the children thoroughly deserved their treats! 🍪🍫😋

We had a wonderful day out at Yarra Farm, enjoying the beautiful surroundings and spending time with all the animals. It was especially lovely to see the baby animals, and the alpacas are always a favourite to visit. 🐖🐄🐐🐓
A big thank you to Jake for showing us around and taking such good care of us throughout our visit. Special thanks also to Stacey, whose kindness and effort ensured we could get up close to many of the animals.
We finished our visit by relaxing with tea and cake in the lovely farm grounds, the perfect way to end a fantastic visit.
There is something truly special about being around animals. They have a wonderful way of helping us relax, bringing smiles to our faces and allowing us to forget our worries for a little while.
Yarra Farm is an amazing place, full of kindness and care.🙂🥰
We can't wait to visit again.

During our reminiscence session, we looked at a variety of thought-provoking items from the past, including a typewriter, a sewing machine, an oil lamp, and a toy doll. Each object brought back some wonderful memories and encouraged everyone to share their personal stories and reflections. Nostalgia is a powerful emotion, bringing feelings of warmth and affection for the past, while also reminding us of moments and traditions that have gradually disappeared over time. 🙂😊🥰

The final finishing touches were recently added to the wonderful ‘Stanway Green Lodge Miniature Garden', which is now open for viewing🌷🪻🌱. We all enjoyed helping to create and add special features to the miniature scenes, making each one unique and full of character.
The displays include a lovely snapshot of Mersea Beach, a cheerful couple of a ‘certain age’ taking a selfie, an idyllic English countryside cottage, and beautiful floral displays. Every detail has helped bring the gardens to life and sparked many conversations and happy memories. Located within our alpine rockery, the miniature gardens are wonderfully stimulating and sensory to explore, with so many charming scenes to discover and enjoy.
If anyone happens to be passing by, please feel free to stop and have a look — everyone is very welcome to visit and enjoy them👍🙂😃.
