In June 1999 I qualified as a first aid instructor with the National Safety Council, since then I have trained through a number of organisations and awarding bodies and it has been fun. I've met some great people and enjoyed teaching them but having just reviewed the new post-covid guidelines it is time for me to retire from first aid training. I wish Keith and all at ProTrainings well for the future. The work they are doing to make training safe and possible in the future is awesome but no long for me.

New option for spinal recovery position.

Learn this new option that makes it easier for one person to roll someone into the spinal recovery position with minimal movement of their spine.

Interesting course today. Everything that I have ever learnt and taught on tourniquets has been turned on its head. I am now teaching tourniquets and haemostatic dressings as part of first aid courses. No longer teaching to elevate the wound nor to use indirect pressure. No more three sided dressings on sucking chest wounds. Catastrophic bleeding can now be controlled by first aiders.
