I don't know where I would be without my laminator!

ONE RESOURCE, MULTIPLE TARGETS

Here is how I’ve been using this Spot the Mouse barn scene to target different speech and language goals:
🐭 Final /s/ production ➜ mouse
🌾 Prepositions ➜ The mouse is behind the goose.
👀 Joint attention ➜ Look! I see a mouse under the hay!
❓ Wh- questions ➜ Where is the hen?
🚜 Vocabulary building ➜ mouse, horse, hen
🏃‍♂️ Verb inflections (-ing) ➜ This mouse is hiding.
🐴 Onomatopoeia ➜ The horse says neigh!
🔍 Descriptive concepts ➜ Find the tiny mouse near the huge horse.

To keep little hands busy, I love coming up with creative ways to use a sound scene!

A little minimal pairs flow chart for anyone who finds it helpful to have the two approaches laid out side by side.

The main difference is whether the child is stimulable for the target. If they are, you can move through the Meaningful Minimal Pairs approach in pink. If they’re not quite there yet, the Perception–Production approach in purple builds in more listening and production work before moving onto contrasting the pairs.

Minimal Pairs Picture & Word Cards are now easy to find on the website, with cards covering a wide range of contrasts so you don’t have to spend half your life finding suitable word pairs and pictures!

They’re designed to support sentence building from simple ‘who + doing’ combinations, right through to ‘who + doing + what + where’, with adjectives included when you’re ready to extend things even further.

Each set comes organised in its own durable folder, ready to grab from the bookshelf and use in sessions.

It turns out that all I need for a good target word hunt is some bubbles, blue food colouring and a glass!

I popped my laminated word-initial /f/ Sound-Loaded Scene underneath the water, hid it with bubbles (because we all love bubbles) and let the searching begin!

Move the glass around → uncover a picture → name what you’ve found and check it off the list → plenty of opportunities for naturalistic /f/ productions.

Sometimes changing how we use a resource is all it takes to make it feel completely new!

18 new minimal pair sets are now available!

I’ve been working hard to make sure that every minimal pair set you ask for makes its way onto the website!

The latest additions are 18 new sets for children who are omitting initial consonants. Each set includes picture and word cards, as well as picture-only cards for each minimal pair, all ready to use in your sessions.

I hope these make your therapy planning that little bit easier!

I've been working on something new!

Big congratulations to Kiele, who graduated from The University of Essex last week 👏

She actually finished her degree last year and has been working with us ever since, but it was great to finally see her get the official send-off.

In the past year, she’s really grown into the role and continues to develop into an excellent speech and language therapist.
