Lots of concentration while we had the Tovertafel on. It is Dutch and means 'Magic Table'. An interactive game console for people with cognitive challenges developed in 2015 by a Dutch company called Tover. It projects light-based games onto tables and floors. Supporting cognitive, social and emotional well-being so great for our residents with dementia. So relaxing along with our plasma ball and fibre optic lamp. A good sensory session.

Our recent Summer parties have done us well. We have saved enough money to buy a brand new JBL karaoke speaker and two microphones! Something I've been waiting patiently to buy for our residents. What a laugh yesterday setting it up and practicing. I'm glad no one videoed me at the beginning, I can't sing! 😅
Some of our residents enjoyed choosing songs and having a go at singing. Either from memory or reading the lyrics, it doesn't matter if you get it wrong, joining in is what counts. Our staff helped our residents sing along and what beautiful voices they all had. Same time next month?! 🎤 🎙 🎤

We had a bit of fun making fly swats from milk bottles, garden sticks and some sellotape, easy! We cut out pretend flys for a practice and enjoyed swatting them. Some annoying flies are around and we are ready! Great little craft with a purpose that was enjoyed by all. 🪰 🪰

This morning we did a number of person centred activities from doll therapy to looking at steam trains and a favourite of one of our residents, the Flying Scotsman. Each of our residents enjoy something different and it was lovely to have a quiet morning to share their photos and magazines and listen to their stories.
