If you've ever struggled with tension that never fully goes away, this will help 💆♀️☕🌬️
And it's got nothing to do with stretching or massage or any kind of treatment.
It's about how you breathe.
Most people breathe with their chest.
You can feel it if you pay attention for a second. Shoulders rising slightly, chest puffing up and down, belly staying pretty still the whole time.
That pattern is your body in a low-level stress state. Every shallow chest breath sends a small signal to your nervous system that something needs to be on alert. Do it all day, every day, and your baseline tension never really drops.
Diaphragmatic breathing, so breathing down into the belly rather than up into the chest, does the opposite. It tells your nervous system it's safe. Muscles that have been holding on start to let go a little. The jaw unclenches. The shoulders come down.
It sounds too simple to matter. It really isn't.
Try it now if you want. One hand on your chest, one on your belly. Breathe in slowly and see which one moves first.
If it's the chest, that's probably been contributing to your tension more than you realised.
Drop a comment if this is something you've never thought about before. I'd genuinely like to know 💆♀️☕
