DON’T BE AFRAID OF IMPACT! 💥

We don’t need to eliminate impact, we need to absorb it, manage it and use it to create propulsion.

A good heel cycle allows the heel to lift and the leg to fold efficiently, helping the leg recycle quickly, land on a midfoot and utilise the elastic properties of the lower leg muscles.

A low, shuffling heel cycle can limit this movement and reduce the efficiency of your stride.

Don’t be afraid of the heel lifting. Use your muscles. Use the ground. Create propulsion! 🏃‍♀️💨

Stop stretching at your ‘tight’ hamstrings and try this instead! 🏃🏽‍♂️

A hamstring that feels tight often doesn’t need more stretching—it may need more strength and load. Dynamic loading can improve muscle function, increase tolerance to movement, and help reduce that feeling of tightness.

This single leg RDL is a key exercise that should form part of your strength routine. It has many benefits!
Running is essentially a series of single-leg hops, so building strength, stability, and control one leg at a time is key to improving performance and reducing injury risk.

Final submission complete… 🎥

Just uploaded my final exam coaching videos for my Level 4 Strength & Conditioning Coach qualification.

It’s been a long journey of practical learning days, assessments, case studies, and exams. A huge amount of work has gone into getting to this point.

Now it’s fingers crossed that this is the final hurdle.🤞 Here’s hoping I’ve done enough!

Are you suffering from knee pain? Try these simple exercises!

21/07/2026

Do you experience knee pain when running? 🏃🏼

It’s often all in the hips!

Your glute medius plays an important role in keeping your pelvis stable every time your foot hits the ground. If it’s not working effectively, the knee will be experiencing considerable unwanted load.

Improving hip strength with these simple exercises will support better running mechanics, reduce unnecessary load on the knee, and help keep you running comfortably.

The key to happier knees often starts at the hips!

👣 Strong feet are the foundation of strong running!

When runners experience foot pain, knee pain, hip discomfort, or feel unstable, insoles or custom orthotics can sometimes be a really helpful tool. By improving foot stability, they can reduce the knock-on effects further up the chain, helping the knees, hips, and overall mechanics.

HOWEVER …. with the right exercises, we can strengthen the arches and the muscles of the feet, improving stability from the ground up. In many cases, orthotics are simply a temporary aid while we build that strength.

The aim isn’t just to support the foot, it’s to create a foot that needs less support over time.

Every runner is different, which is why assessment is key. Sometimes an orthotic is exactly what’s needed, and sometimes a tailored strengthening programme is the missing piece.

Strong feet. Better stability. More efficient running. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

🏃‍♂️ What if your sore back after a long run isn’t actually a back problem?

Most runners blame tight muscles, a weak core, or age. But often, the problem starts somewhere else.
Watch this runner closely:
🔍 Pelvic drop
🔍 Hip hike
🔍 Excessive torso rotation
When the pelvis isn’t well controlled, the lower back often has to work overtime to compensate, especially over longer distances.

If you’re regularly finishing runs with a sore back, it may be time to look beyond the symptoms and identify what’s driving the compensation in the first place.
