We are asking anyone who has a QA‑loaned breast pump at home to please return it to our NICU ward.

There are currently 50 pumps outstanding, and our Neonatal team are unable to provide home loan pumps for families because of a high number of unreturned items. These include the Ardo Calypso and Medela Symphony hospital grade pumps.

You can return the pumps directly to the NICU reception on Ward B9, Queen Alexandra Hospital.

If you are unable to return the pump and would like to speak with a member of the team, please contact the Feeding Team on 02392 283232.

Dehydration means your body loses more fluids than you take in. This can be a real problem when it’s hot, especially for babies, children and older adults who are most at risk.

"I was shocked when I was told I'd been awarded the BEM. I genuinely thought it was a joke."

These are the words of hospital radio volunteer Neil Blanks, who has been awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) for his service to hospital broadcasting and the local community.

Over the past 25 years Neil has supported patients, helping to ensure patients can enjoy entertainment and companionship during an especially difficult time.

🎉 Congratulations to Allyson Lloyd, Microbiology Manager at QA Hospital, on celebrating an incredible 40 years of service to the NHS.

Over the past four decades, Allyson has made an outstanding contribution to our Microbiology service, playing a key role in a number of important developments, including the introduction of the chlamydia screening programme, molecular testing, and supporting the Trust's response during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thank you, Allyson, for your dedication, expertise and commitment over the last 40 years. Congratulations on this fantastic and well-deserved milestone! 💙👏

Please be aware of this temporary update from our neighbouring NHS Trust. If you or someone you know is planning to attend Petersfield Community Hospital, please read the information below and share if it may be useful to others.

There are currently no x-ray facilities at Petersfield Community Hospital. This affects both the outpatient department and the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC).

If you are an outpatient, you will be contacted to rearrange your appointment.

We are working with our partners to automatically redirect people to the next nearest available UTC so everyone will be treated as usual according to their need.

UTCs available for walk-ins are:

🌟 Saturday Spotlight 🌟

This week we're shining a spotlight on Jo Yelland, Andrea Yeates, Paulo Bernardes and Chloe Raddon, our fantastic Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (ANNPs) at Queen Alexandra Hospital.

From attending high-risk deliveries and caring for premature and poorly babies to supporting families through some of the most important moments of their lives, the team provide expert care across our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), maternity services and postnatal ward.

💙 "No two days are ever the same. One of the most rewarding parts of our role is supporting babies and their families and seeing our smallest patients grow stronger and go home with their families."

As well as delivering specialist neonatal care, the team also mentor colleagues and help drive improvements to ensure every baby receives the very best start in life.
