Continuing my posts for International Day of Charity, and raising awareness of the local Coventry charity Tiny Tim's Children's Centre of which I am proud to be a Trustee.
So, why this charity?
Here is my story...
My name is Trish Jarvis, I am a single mum of two young people with Autism (now in their 20s) living in Coventry since 2001.
My eldest child, used the massage therapy services at Tiny Tim's circa 2013 with Helen on a Saturday to help him relax and de-stress from the school week. He also had initial sessions with both OT (handwriting & shoelaces) and Physio (to ascertain walking gait issues and why he kept tripping over his own feet), we took advice from those professionals but did not continue with treatment at Tiny Tim's.
We also booked a birthday party as a cost effective, stress and mess free alternative in the days when you did not have to close off to the public. My best friend followed suit!
I have a BTEC National Diploma in Business & Finance, and my first full time job was as a Trainee Accountant. Since then, I have a varied occupational history including many roles in customer service, local government services, hospitality and education.
I was on the Parent Partnership Board for Coventry Surestart North East when it was set up, including being on the interview panel for the Centre Manager.
I was co-founder and treasurer of The Friday Club Parent & Toddler Group which ran in Wood-End 2003-2008, including a successful bid for New Deal for Communities funding.
After home-educating my eldest child for two years 2009-2011 due to SEND needs not being met, I trained as a Teaching Assistant, where I specialised in Autism & SEND albeit within mainstream primary schools. I worked for two different Coventry primary schools and two more in Warwickshire.
I now run my own business (since 2022); Trauma Therapy by Trish, which provides emotional wellbeing and educational support services in Coventry, to schools, charities, community groups and private individuals, and most recently have been a recognised external provider for wellbeing activities for the HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) programme this Summer.
I am part of a number of business networks and attend local business expos, so have a number of people I can ask for advice or signpost to at any time.
As a self-employed person I have more control over my time, which enables me to support my family better, and allows me the time to give something back to Tiny Tim's by being a Trustee. I look forward to being able to support as and where I am able. 🎈
