It’s often the little things families remember. 🤍

When someone dies, there are so many decisions to make. The funeral, the flowers, the music, the cars, the service.

But sometimes, when families talk to us afterwards, it isn't the big things they remember most.

It’s the little things.

Someone taking the time to listen to a story about Dad.

Making sure Mum’s hair was just as she would have liked it.

A favourite piece of music playing quietly.

A tie straightened, a photograph placed carefully, or simply being given an extra few minutes when saying goodbye feels particularly hard.

These things may seem small, but to a family they can mean everything.

At Franklin & Hawkins, we believe supporting families is about far more than arranging a funeral. It’s about getting to know the person behind the arrangements, listening to the people who loved them, and paying attention to all those little details that make their farewell theirs.

Because very often, the little things become the things we remember most. 🤍

Franklin & Hawkins Family Funeral Directors are saddened to hear of the death of the wonderful Dolly Parton, aged 80.

What a life, and what a legacy she leaves behind.

From humble beginnings in Tennessee to becoming one of the most recognised and loved entertainers in the world, Dolly wrote thousands of songs during an extraordinary career, songs that have become part of the soundtrack to so many people's lives.

And, of course, one of those songs has also become part of so many people's final farewells.

“I Will Always Love You” remains one of the most popular and poignant pieces of music we hear chosen for funeral services.

Written and originally recorded by Dolly herself, its words somehow say what can be so difficult to put into words when we lose someone we love.

Her music will continue to be played, sung and remembered for generations to come.
What a life, well lived. Rest in peace, Dolly. ❤️

Sometimes the kindest words are the simplest. 💙

It was lovely to see this shared today with the words “What a man.”

We have always believed that being part of a community means doing more than simply working within it, it means supporting it too.

We’re incredibly proud to support Canley Food Hub and Canley Food Hub, whose team work tirelessly to help local people and families, and this donation from Franklin and Hawkins Family Funeral Directors will be distributed as needed in the community.

There’s no fanfare needed. Just people helping people, whenever and however they can.

Thank you, William Davies for the lovely endorsement, it genuinely means a great deal.

For us, supporting our local community has never just been about business.

For many years, the communities in which we work have shown Franklin and Hawkins Family Funeral Directors such unwavering support and trust.

We never take that for granted.

So, whenever we have an opportunity to give a little something back, whether that’s supporting our local food hub, a community group, a charity or an individual cause, we’re always happy to do so.

Our communities support us, and in return, we will always do our very best to support them. ❤️

With the deeply upsetting news surrounding a funeral director in Hull who has now been sent to prison, we feel it is important to comment.

Cases such as this are extremely rare within our profession, but when they do happen, understandably they shine a spotlight on every funeral director and can leave families wondering what happens after they place someone they love into our care.

For the vast majority of us, funeral directing is far more than a job. It is a vocation. We enter this profession because we genuinely care about people and want to support families through some of the most difficult days of their lives.

We have long advocated for proper regulation of the funeral profession.
It remains one of the few professions where someone can establish a funeral business without the level of checks, oversight and regulation that we believe families have every right to expect.

Franklin & Hawkins are proud members of both funeral trade associations (NAFD & SAIF) and have been since day one when we founded the Company.
We choose to belong voluntarily and actively follow their codes of practice, inspections and best-practice guidance.

But membership remains voluntary, and there are still funeral directors who choose to operate without belonging to either organisation.

Anyone who has entrusted a loved one into our care will know the standards of dignity, respect and compassion we expect from ourselves every single day.

Families and friends are welcome to visit their loved one, and we have always believed that openness and transparency are an important part of the trust placed in us.

However, following the recent news from Hull, we recognise that people may have questions they have never previously thought to ask.

Please take this time to contact us: you don't need to have arranged a funeral with us.

Simply come in, meet us. Ask us questions.

If you wish to have an open visit to see our facilities and understand how we care for your loved ones, all we would ask is that it is by appointment, purely to protect the privacy and dignity of the families we are caring for.

Have a look and fully understand exactly what happens when somebody is entrusted into the care of Franklin & Hawkins Family Funeral Directors.

There are no questions you should feel uncomfortable asking.

Trust should never simply be expected because of the profession we work in. It should be earned.

We hope that by opening our doors, answering questions and showing people exactly how we work, we can provide some reassurance at a time when understandably many people may be feeling concerned.

Finally, our sincere thoughts and condolences are with every family affected by the terrible events in Hull.

What they have endured is unimaginable, and they deserved so much better.

Another Friday, another delivery of essential everyday items to Canley Food Hub

As a local independent family funeral directors, we always try to support the communities in which we are based. Caring for people isn't only about the families we serve through our profession – it's also about lending a helping hand wherever we can.

These weekly donations simply wouldn't be possible without the incredible generosity of Dave Budd who continually provides us with useful everyday essentials for those who need them most.

Thank you, Dave, for your ongoing kindness and support.

Together, we're making a small difference, one Friday at a time. ❤️
